When you first add someone on Snapchat, your username comes up in the Add Friends section on their Snapchat and they can add you back from here. If you’ve stopped talking to someone or you no longer see the point of having them as a friend, chances are that you’ve removed them.
When you remove someone, they still have you so if you decide to add them back again, you’ll be friends. If they removed you when you removed them, if you decide to add them, they’ll have to add you back to become friends. If you’ve removed someone and you want to add them back again, you may be worried if they get notified.
Why Does it Say Received on Snapchat When I Just Added Them?
This happens for 2 reasons.
1. You use to have them on Snapchat but you ignored/received their last message for adding them. So now you’ve added them back again, it’s just showing what happened last.
2. A bug/glitch. If you know you’ve never had them as a friend before, then this will be the reason it says received.
If I Re Add Someone on Snapchat Will They Know?
It’s embarrassing removing someone and then adding them again because it can look childish to someone people since you can’t make up your mind. If you’ve removed someone and then decided to add them back again, they will receive a notification in the Add Friends section saying that you added them back. There’s no way to stop them from receiving this notification if you add them back after removing them.
1. They’ll See The Notification
When you add someone on Snapchat after removing them, they’ll be able to see the notification saying that you’ve added them back. This will let them know that you removed them from Snapchat.
If they knew they had you as a friend and now they’re getting a notification saying that you just added them, they’ll know that you removed them.
No one gets a notification saying that they’ve just been added if they were never removed so this will be a huge sign to them.
2. They’ll Start Seeing Your Stories Again
When you remove someone, they’ll stop seeing your stories. When you add them again, they’ll start seeing your stories again.
If you were a request poster, and they noticed that they didn’t see your stories for a while and now they can see them again, they might guess that you removed them.
If they didn’t see the notification saying that you added them again, the next telltale sign will be noticing that they’re able to see your stories again. Although it’s not a concrete sign, they might know because of this.
3. Your Conversation Will Appear At The Top
When you add someone again after removing them, your name will appear in their recents. Usually, when you’ve just made a new friend on Snapchat, the conversation will appear at the top of the conversations list on Snapchat.
If they suddenly start seeing your name in their Recents, they’ll immediately know that something is up.
From here, they might check the add friends section to see if they recently got an Add from you. If they see your name there, they’ll know that you removed them and then added them back again.
4. Your Snap Score Will Be Visible Again
If they checked your user profile before you added them, they’ll know that you removed them. When someone’s snap score is hidden, it means that they’ve removed you as a friend.
If they’ve checked your user profile again and can see your snap score, they’ll know that you’ve added them again. When you can’t see someone’s snap score, it means that they’ve removed you as a friend.
If you can see it again, then it means that they’ve added you back. If they’re aware of how snap scores work, they’ll know this is what you’ve done.
5. They’ll No Longer See Pending
If they checked their Recents list and they say the word pending under your name, they would’ve known that you removed them. When there’s Pending under someone’s name, it means that they’ve removed you as a friend.
If they’ve checked their Recents again and pending is no longer there, they’ll know that you’ve added them again. When you can see the word pending, it means that they removed you.
If you can see it again, then it means that they’ve added you back. If they’re aware of what pending means, they’ll know that you removed them and added them back.
6. Their Messages Will Be Sending Now
If they tried to send messages to you previously but their messages weren’t sending and before they used to send, they’ll know that you’ve removed them.
If your privacy settings are set so that only friends can contact you, they’ll know that you removed them. If they’ve tried to message you again and it’s going through, they’ll know that you’ve added them again.
When messages are no longer going through, it means that they removed you. If you can see it again, then it means that they’ve added you back.
Be aware that they might be conflicted when using this as a way to know if you added them back again because their messages sent to you again could just mean that you’ve changed your privacy settings to Everyone.
If You Add Someone on Snapchat and Then Unadd Them Will They Know?
If you’ve added someone and then decided to unadd them back again, they’ll be able to tell that you’ve unadded them using a few clues that Snapchat gives away.
For example, when you unadd someone, your name goes to the top of their Recents list and if they go ahead and notice that they’re unable to see your snap score, they’ll know that you’ve unadded them.
1. They’ll See Pending
If they checked their Recents list and they can see the word pending under your name, they’ll know that you’ve removed them. When there’s Pending under someone’s name, it means that they’ve removed you as a friend.
When someone can see the word pending under your name and they’ve never seen it before, they’ll know you removed them after adding them. If they’re aware of what pending means, they’ll know that you added them and then removed them.
2. They Can’t See Your Snap Score
If they checked your user profile after you remove them, they’ll know that you removed them. When someone’s snap score can’t be seen, it means that they’ve been removed as a friend.
If they’ve checked your user profile and can’t see your snap score after being able to see it previously, they’ll know that you’ve removed them.
When you can’t see someone’s snap score, it means that they removed you. If they’re aware of how snap scores work, they’ll know you’ve removed them.
3. Their Messages Aren’t Sending
If they tried to send messages to you previously and they were sending, but now they’re not sending, they’ll know that you’ve removed them. If your privacy settings are set so that only friends can contact you, they’ll know that you removed them if they try to message you.
When messages are no longer going through, it means that they removed you. But, if your contact settings are set so that everyone can contact you, their message will send whenever they message you so they won’t be able to know if you’ve removed them.
4. They Won’t Be Able to See Your Stories Anymore
When you remove someone, they’ll stop seeing your stories. If you were a frequent poster, and they noticed that they saw your story all the time and now they can’t see them again, they might guess that you’ve removed them.
Although it’s not a concrete sign, they might know simply because they’re not seeing your stories as frequently as they once were.
If I Add Someone on Snapchat Are They Notified?
When you added someone on Snapchat, they’re notified about the Add. There’s a notification section in the add friends section that’ll let you know that you’ve just added them.
If they previously had you as a friend and they can now see that you’ve added them back, they’ll know that you removed them. In some cases, the notification saying that you’ve added them back might not come through and they won’t be able to see that you’ve added them.
Sometimes this is due to a bug that’s stopping them from receiving the Add notification and in some rare cases, it’s because they’ve turned off their Snapchat notifications.

How to Re-add Someone on Snapchat Without Them Knowing
If you remove someone, it can be hard to find their username again. When you remove someone, their username gets removed from your conversations so if you want to add them back without them knowing, you’ll have to go into the friend’s section and look for their name. When you add them back, you just need to pray that they have their notifications turned off or they miss the notification saying that you’ve added them back.
If they have their notifications on, there’s no way to re-add them without them knowing. The only way that they won’t know is if they don’t check your snap score, see the notification, realize that their messages are now sending to you, see that you’re posting stories again, and notice that Pending has gone from underneath your name.
Note: Removing them in the first place is risky because they can always find out, but luckily there are ways to remove them without them knowing.
To re-add someone on Snapchat without them knowing:
1. Locate and launch the Snapchat app.
2. Sign in with your Snapchat account, if you aren’t already logged in.
3. On the camera screen, tap Add Friend, represented by a “head and shoulders” icon paired with the addition sign. You’ll see it in the top right corner of your screen.
4. To start adding your friends through the search function, tap the search bar at the top of the screen, accompanied by “Find Friends” in grey lettering. When your virtual keyboard appears, type in their username, not their display name.
5. In the search results below, find your friend and select + Add.
Why Does It Say Received When I Add Someone Back?
When you add someone back and it says received, it means that you tried to send a message to them before you added them back but their Contact Me settings were set to friends only so your message wasn’t delivered to them. Now that you’ve added them back, your message will say received meaning that it was delivered. This is because you’re friends now so you can contact them.
