If I Liked Someones Tagged Someone Will They Know?

If you like to stalk people, then you may be worried about accidentally liking a post that they’re tagged in. Or, you just don’t want them to be notified about the fact that you liked it.

If I Liked Someone’s Tagged Picture Will They Know?

Unfortunately or fortunately, yes, if someone is tagged with their account in a photo on Instagram and you like it, they will know since they will receive a notification.

This is due to the fact that when someone is tagged with their account on Instagram, they will receive notifications for comments and likes on the photo.

Now, this might be less than ideal if you do not want the person to know that you have liked the picture; however, it is not always a guarantee that they will be aware that you liked the photo.

Keep in mind that there currently is no notification on the Instagram app for when someone unlikes a post.

With this in mind, if you just recently liked the photo (within seconds or minutes) that they are tagged in, then you can simply unlike the picture. However, the longer the time is between you liking the photo and un-liking it, the more possible it is for them to know that you liked the picture.

This is because when you like a picture that someone is tagged in on the Instagram app, they will receive a notification.

If they see the notification, then they will likely notice if you unlike the photo since the notification will disappear from the notification bar as well as the notification section on the Instagram app.

However, if they didn’t see the initial notification of the like, they won’t know.

Even if they use common methods to check old instagram notification, they won’t be able to see that you’ve liked their posts because the notification gets deleted as soon as you unlike it.

The best thing for you to do is to turn off double tap like to like feature if you want to be able to stalk someone’s tagged photos without your finger slipping then you accidentally liking posts they’re tagged in. This has happened to me numerous times and it’s pretty much the only certified way to get around it. Along side doing thigs like putting your phone on airplane mode or being careful with the way you swipe.

However, there are some ways to take measures to somewhat avoid them from knowing that you liked the photo they are tagged in.

What Happens If I Accidentally Like and Unlike Someone’s Tagged Photo on Instagram?

Fortunately for you, if you accidentally like a photo that someone is tagged in with their Instagram account and then unlike it, they will only receive a notification for when you liked it.

Now, if the duration between you liking their tagged photo is within seconds or minutes, then it is quite unlikely that they will see that you liked the picture.

This is primarily due to the fact that there currently is no notification on the Instagram app for when someone unlikes a post or a photo/post that they are tagged in.

There currently is only a notification on the Instagram app for when someone has liked a post/photo that someone is tagged in.

However, if it has been a while since you noticed that you liked the photo that they are tagged in with their account, then it is quite possible that they saw that you liked the picture.

On the bright side, they cannot say for certain that you unliked the tagged photo unless they keep track of the like count for that particular tagged picture or they saw the ‘like’ notification disappear from the notification bar and/or the notification section on the Instagram application.

So, whether or not someone will know that you liked the tagged photo and then unliked it, primarily depends on if they saw the ‘like notification and/or how long it took you to unlike the picture they are tagged in with their account.

Whether or not someone will know that you have unliked their post on Instagram quite heavily depends on if they initially saw that you liked their post.

This is due to the fact that there currently is no notification for when someone has unliked a post on the Instagram application.

However, as you may know, there is a notification for when you like someone’s post, which means that the ‘like’ notification can disappear from the notification bar as well as the notification section on the Instagram app.

1. If They Follow You, They’ll Receive A Notification That You Liked Their Tagged Photo

As previously mentioned, when you like a photo that someone is tagged in, they will receive a notification. They will most likely see this notification on the notification bar and in the notification section on the Instagram app.

However, this is only if they follow you, if they do not follow you on Instagram, they may not receive the notification.

Now, if you recently liked the post of the tagged photo, then they will have likely noticed your like on their notification bar, which means that if you unlike their post, they are more likely to see that you unliked their post on Instagram.

This is due to the fact that when you have recently liked someone’s post on Instagram, they will receive a notification, which will come up on their notifications bar and notifications section.

They are also more likely to notice if your like was one of only a few likes on the post, as they could see the notification on their notification bar when you liked the post and then saw it also disappear.

2. If They Don’t Follow You, The Person’s Picture You Liked Might Tell Them You Liked It

If the person that is tagged in the photo does not follow you on Instagram and you liked the tagged picture, then they will not get a notification.

However, they could certainly go to the photo they are tagged in with their account and go through the likes, which they could then see that you liked the photo.

3. They See Your Name In The Likes of the Photo They’re Tagged in

As previously mentioned, the person that is tagged in the picture might not follow you on Instagram. However, they very well could go to the tagged photo and go through the likes, then they could also see that you liked the picture.

This is because all of the likes for a post/photo are saved under the ‘likes’ and any user that is tagged in the photo/post can check the likes to see who has liked it.

One feasible way for someone to figure out that you have unliked their tagged photo on Instagram is if you previously liked their post a while ago, then unliked the post.

This is due to the fact that all likes for each post are saved to that post, which means that they can return to that post and select the ‘Likes’ option to see which users liked the post.

If your Instagram username disappears from the ‘Likes’, they could figure out that you unliked their post.

If the post that you unliked is quite old, it is unlikely for them to check the ‘Likes’ for that post, which means that it is also quite unlikely for them to find out that you unliked their Instagram post.

Should I Block Them So They Don’t See the Notification?

If you were to block the account of the person that was tagged in the photo that you liked, then the notification will be deleted from their Instagram notifications.

However, they could have already seen that you liked the tagged photo prior to you blocking them on Instagram.

With this in mind, blocking that user on Instagram just so they do not know that you liked the picture they were tagged in, might not be the best course of action.

How Will I Know If They Know I Liked Their Tagged Picture?

Unfortunately, there is no way to know for sure whether or not they know that you liked the picture they are tagged in with their account. You could try asking them but that does defeat the purpose of trying to hide the fact that you liked the tagged photo.

If They Don’t Tell You, You’ll Never Know

Unfortunately, if they do not tell you that they know that you liked their tagged photo on Instagram or you do not hear it from someone they know, then it is unlikely that you will ever know for certain.

Sometimes it can get tricky when you want to like someone’s photo on Instagram; however, it only gets more complicated when you do not want a tagged account to see that you liked the picture.

With that said, there are ways to avoid them from knowing, which primarily depends on when you liked and/or unliked the tagged photo.

Not to mention, whether or not they follow you on Instagram. Here is hoping that Instagram never releases a notification for when someone unlikes a post/photo.
