Does Twitter Notify If You Save a Picture?

Twitter has a feature that allows you to save photos that come across your timeline and you may have wondered if twitter tells people whether you’ve saved their pictures or not. If you’ve been on Snapchat, you’ll know that they have a screenshot feature where if you screenshot someone’s story, then the person will be notified and told of the screenshot.

Other apps like Instagram implemented this for their stories for a brief period before removing it. Although Twitter doesn’t notify if your post has been screenshotted, you may be wondering if they’ll notify users that you’ve saved their photos.

Does Twitter Notify If You Save a Picture

Fortunately, Twitter doesn’t notify someone when you save someone else’s picture. There’s no way that someone will find out that you’ve hit the save button on the menu button for their pictures. You can save as many pictures as you like on Twitter and no one will ever find out, unless you tell them yourself.

For direct messages, Twitter doesn’t notify you when you save someone’s picture. If someone sends you a picture via direct messages, Twitter wouldn’t tell them that you saved it.

If you save someone’s profile picture, much like a photo on your timeline, Twitter wouldn’t notify them that you saved it. This might help you if you wanted to save someone’s profile so that you can have it in your camera roll ready to look at later.

Tip: If you’re worried about people saving your pictures on Twitter, you may way to make your Twitter profile private. Your existing followers and future follow requests that you approve will be able to save your picture. But anyone you haven’t approved wouldn’t be able to view your content, so they’ll only be able to save your profile picture.

If you’re worried about people you don’t know saving your picture on Twitter, then you can make your account private. Making your account private means that only your followers can save your picture and people who don’t follow you have to have their follow request approved before they can save your pictures –  the only exception to this is that they can save your profile picture without having to follow you.

1. Open the Twitter app on your phone.

2. Then tap on the More icon that appears as three dots.

3. Now go to your Settings and privacy.

4. Go to your account and scroll over to account information and input your password.

5. Scroll down to Protected Tweets and tap on the arrow.

6. Check the box next to Protect my Tweets.

7. You will be prompted to select Cancel or Protect, select Protect.

Does Twitter Notify When Someone Saves Your Picture

If I Save A Photo on Twitter Will the Person Know

There’s no way someone can know if you save their picture on Twitter. Due to privacy reasons, Twitter doesn’t let you know the people that have saved your pictures so no one can know when their picture has been saved. You won’t have to change any privacy settings that’ll prevent someone from knowing if you’ve saved their picture. If you see someone’s picture that you like and you want to download it, you can do that without worrying.

This is pretty much the same with all social media apps. They don’t reveal when a user has saved their photo to their device. There are no alerts given in the notification section when this happens so no one can tell.

If It’s A Group Photo

If you’re in a group photo with someone and they’ve mentioned you in the picture they posted on their Twitter timeline, they’ll assume that you’ve saved it even though they weren’t notified.

Most people who are in a group photo, (although it’s rare for group photos to be posted on Twitter and are more likely to be posted on Facebook or Instagram) who don’t have the photo already are likely to save it. If you’re close with this person and your group likes to have pictures of each other taken often, they’re going to know that you’ve saved the picture. Although they can’t be 100% sure, most people would assume that you saved it.

If You Post The Picture

If they know that they’re the only one who has the picture, but you post the picture after downloading it from their timeline on another social media platform that you have them on, they’ll know that you saved it since they’re the only one who has the picture.

The only time they’ll assume that you didn’t save the picture that they posted is if it’s not originally their picture and then you’ve posted it. However, if they know that the photo is theirs originally and it hasn’t been posted elsewhere,  then they’ll know that you just stole it from them.

If It Contains You

If you’re in the picture with them and they’ve never shared it with you before, but they post it on their Twitter timeline, then they’ll know that you saved the post, especially if they mentioned you in the tweet.

If the post is old and they posted months or years ago and you didn’t follow each other when they posted it, they’re not going to think you saved the picture from their timeline because they’ll assume that you never saw it. But if they mentioned your @ in the picture and have never shared the picture or video with you, they’ll think you saved it.

If You Like And Comment

If you like and reply on the photo you saved, it’ll let them know that you like the picture and that you probably saved it. If the photo is funny, or you’re their close friend or partner, then they’ll think that you saved it.

If the photo doesn’t relate to you whatsoever, then they won’t be able to tell that you saved it. If you do want to make sure that they don’t know you’ve saved it, don’t like and reply to the tweet.

If You Share

If you share the picture they posted to their timeline, they’re going to know that you saved it, especially if it’s camera-roll-worthy. If it’s something serious, and a photo that isn’t camera roll worthy, they’re not going to know you saved it. But if you’ve gone to the lengths of sharing it, they’re going to assume that you’ve saved it. This is especially if you’re a significant other.

If Someone Tells Them

The best way someone can know you saved their picture on Twitter is if someone else tells them. When someone tells them and even shows them that you sent them their picture, there’s no denying that it was you because everything points back to you (that’s if they didn’t send the photo or video to anyone else).

The only way that someone would be able to tell someone else that it was you who saved their picture is if you sent it to someone that’s close to them. Or, they just thought that it’d be funny to tell the person that you saved and sent their picture with them.

They See It On Your Phone

If you hang with this person a lot and they can constantly get a glimpse of your phone, they might one day find out that you saved the photo that they tweeted on Twitter. If they can have access to your phone and you save their picture, you need to make sure that you hide it from your camera roll or gallery and keep it in an album that they wouldn’t open.
