The feeling of getting a new smartphone is always exciting; you just can’t wait to get your hand dirty on it. However, the only issue with changing your phone is that you have to transfer a lot of data, applications, contacts and whatnot. Doing it all manually is tedious and time-consuming. You will always look for the convenient options which can transfer all your data with a single click/tap, wouldn’t you?

Technological advancements have made this thing quite easy. There are various options through which you can transfer your data in minutes. As far as Apple is concerned, transferring the data from the old phone to a new one is a pretty straightforward process. Most carrier stores, or even Apple stores can assist you in doing so, but the process itself is quite simple that every user can perform it by themselves.

Transferring Apps from old iPhone to new iPhone doesn’t require you to be tech-savvy. Many iPhone users know the procedure, but if you are one of the users who don’t know it, you can walk through this elaborated guideline for your assistance.

Through iCloud

You must have to have an iCloud backup of your old device for this method to work. For example, if you are selling your old iPhone then make sure you create the latest backup on iCloud before selling it. If you don’t, then iCloud will only provide the data that was backed up automatically. Here is how you can create an iCloud backup:

1. Go to the Settings on your iPhone.

2. Tap on the option Apple ID; the first option on the screen.
tap iCloud

3. Now tap iCloud.
iCloud Backup

4. Locate the option iCloud Backup and toggle it on.

5. A pop-up will appear, asking if you want to Start iCloud Backup. Simply Tap OK to proceed.

6. Make sure that you have enough iCloud storage for backup to be completed. If you don’t have enough storage then you will not be able to get a complete backup.

Via iTunes on Mac

1. Connect your iPhone to iTunes via a charging cable.

2. iTunes will automatically recognize the device. If it doesn’t launch iTunes manually and try to make it sync by reconnecting the charging cable.

3. Now locate and click iPhone icon in the upper left of the iTunes.

4. Click on the option Summary followed by a click on the option Back Up Now located in Manually Backup & Restore section.

5. Go to the option Preferences to double check if the newest backup was created or not. Look for the date and time latest back up was created.

Since your old iPhone has been backed up, you can now move on to the next stage. Switch on your new device and set it up via iCloud backup. It is only possible if you have just unpacked or switched on your phone for the first time.

If you have already used this phone then you may have to erase all content and settings to set it up as a new phone again. Make sure you copy your data on this device (if any) so you can retrieve it later. Now reset your device by:

1. Go to the Settings.

2. Tap on the option General.

3. Scroll down, locate the option Reset.

4. Now tap on the option Erase All Content and Settings.

Doing this will erase everything from your phone and it will restart. Upon restarting, you have to follow these steps:

1. Keep Setting up your phone manually until you are asked how you want to set up the device.

2. Tap on the option Restore from iCloud Backup.

3. Now provide the credentials for the Apple ID on which backup was created.

4. Tap on the backup you made from the list that appears. Make sure you choose the latest one.

5. Now just follow the onscreen dictation until the process is complete.

Once completed, your phone’ data will be similar to the old phone. it includes pictures, apps, contacts, and WhatsApp chats etc. So, transferring apps to the new phone was as simple as that. However, if your iCloud backup method failed to transfer data, you can look for iTunes Backup. Here is how you can do it.

1. Keep Setting up your phone manually until you are asked how you want to set up the device.

2. Tap on the option Restore from iTunes Backup.

3. Now connect your phone to the iTunes.

4. Click on the option Restore Backup.

5. Select the backup you last made from the list of backups.

6. Now just follow the onscreen dictation until the process is complete.

Through the App Store

Apple keeps on making things easy yet people complain about complications. Just look at this process, it doesn’t even require long procedures of iCloud or iTunes backup to transfer apps. All you need to do is to use the same Apple ID which you were using on the old iPhone, and it will allow you to transfer apps easily. Here is how you can do that.

1. The first step is to make sure that you are logged in with the same Apple ID.

2. Now launch the App Store on your iPhone.

3. On the top/right of your screen, you will be able to locate the image which you have used on your Apple ID. Tap on it.
Select Purchased

4. Locate the option Purchased and tap on it.

5. Upon tapping, you will be able to see the list of all the Apps you have had until now on this Apple ID.

6. Tap on the Download icon across the App you want to get on your new phone.

7. Individually tap on all the Apps you want to transfer. Leave the phone for 15-20 minutes (depending on the internet connection) so the process can be completed.

Via Quick Start

If your both phones are running on iOS 11 or later then Quick Start is a great option to transfer data between the two devices. It is quite a straightforward procedure so have a look at it for yourself.

1. Insert the SIM card in your new phone.

2. Place your old iPhone close to the new one. Switch on the new iPhone and it will automatically trigger the Quick Start option. Your phone screen will ask you if you want to set up your new iPhone using your Apple ID.

3. Click Continue to proceed. If you do not see the option continue then you just need to switch on Bluetooth on both the devices.

4. Hold your old iPhone just above the new iPhone until the animation appears in the middle of the screen.

5. Now use the camera viewfinder to center the animation in the middle of the screen.

6. Next, tap on the option Finish on New iPhone.

7. Your new phone will ask you to provide the old phone’s password to continue the process.

8. Follow the onscreen instructions to transfer all the data (including apps) to your new phone.

9. Let the process finish and then you can put your old phone back. Your new iPhone will now have all the data and apps which you wanted to transfer.

This method is only applicable for the latest iPhone models. The users who still have old iPhones should refer to the other methods mentioned above. These methods work absolutely fine in most cases. If none of these methods works then you may have to look for some reliable software that can help you with the process. There are quite a few good software available in the market for this purpose, but most of them are paid.
