Threads Not Permitted

One of these issues you probably have run into is seeing a warning that Threads is not permitted. This could be due to a few reasons, in this guide I will list the main reasons why you are seeing Threads is not permitted.

Why Does Threads Say Not Permitted?

As previously discussed there are a few reasons why you are seeing the warning that Threads is not permitted. Are threads available in your region? Is your Instagram account deactivated or suspended? Does the Threads app and/or your mobile device need to be updated? Below I will be going over these questions and more.

1. Threads Is Not Available In Your Area

Since the Threads app is still new, there could be a chance that the Threads app is not available in your area yet. As of right now, the Threads app is not available in the EU.

If the Threads app is not available in your area this is the reason why you are seeing the warning Threads is not permitted when you try to download or log into Threads. If the Threads app is not available in your area there is not much you can do besides wait until the Threads app is available in your area.

Fix – Check to See If Threads Is Released In Your Area/Use A VPN (Virtual Private Network)

If you are not sure if Threads is available in the area you live in, you can check to see if it is available in your region. If Threads is not available in your area you will have to wait till it becomes available in your region.

The reason why it is not available in the EU right now is because of “upcoming regulatory uncertainty.” As stated above since Threads is a new app it is not available in a lot of areas right now.

With that being said, if the Threads app is not available in the area that you live in you can use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to log into the Threads app. Using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) not only gives you better protection when you are browsing the internet but it also allows you to change your IP address.

This means that you can use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to access Threads if you live in an area where Threads is not available. You can do this by changing your IP address to an area where Threads is available like the US.

2. Instagram Account is Inactive

When you see the warning saying “Not Permitted” when trying to log into Threads this could be due to your Instagram account being inactive. Since you need your Instagram account to log into the Threads app.

If your Instagram account is deactivated or suspended this could be why you are seeing this warning and you are not being permitted to log into Threads. Whatever the reason why your Instagram account is inactive I would check to see if this is what is causing Threads to not be permitted.

Thankfully this can be solved by creating a new Instagram account, sometimes it is better to start new with a new app.

Fix – Check to See If Your Instagram Account is Active

When seeing the warning that Threads is not permitted, check to see if your Instagram account is active. As mentioned above if your Instagram account is deactivated or suspended you will not be able to log into Threads, since Threads is linked to your Instagram account.

Your account could have been suspended or deactivated for many reasons but if you want to log into Threads you will need an active Instagram account.

Thankfully if your Instagram account is deactivated or suspended and you want to log into Threads. The best thing you can do is create a new Instagram account. This might be for the best to start with an all-new account when starting on the Threads app.

3. Bug/Glitch With Threads App

Since Threads is still a new app that has just recently been released there will be a lot of bugs/glitches with the initial release. It is common for apps to experience more bugs/glitches more often when first releasing a new app.

Seeing the warning that Threads is not permitted could be due to bugs/glitches with the Threads servers. This is when you will be seeing more updates for Threads as more of these bugs/glitches get reported and the support team comes out with fixes via an update.

There are a couple of ways you can refresh the Threads app to see if this clears any bugs/glitches that could be the reason behind this problem.

Fix – Clear Cache on Threads App/Check For Threads App Update

One of the first things you can do to refresh the Threads app on your mobile device I’d clear the app’s cache. Clearing the app’s cache can refresh the Threads app and clear any possible bugs/glitches that could be the reason why you are seeing that Threads is not permitted.

For the more complicated bugs/glitches an update will need to be done. If clearing the app’s cache did not solve this issue, check to see if there is an update for Threads.

If there is an update follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update. After the update try to log back into Threads and see if this solves the problem.

If there is no update available there is another option. Delete the Threads app off of your mobile device. Wait a few minutes before you reinstall the Threads app back onto your mobile device. When you reinstall the Thread app back onto your mobile device will install the app with the most recent updates and version of the app.

4. Threads App Is Not Downloaded Separately

This reason may be obvious but it is a common reason why you are seeing that Threads are not permitted. Do you have the Threads app downloaded separately on your mobile device? Yes, Threads is linked to Instagram and you need your Instagram account to log into Threads.

However, it is a separate app that needs to be downloaded to your Mobile Device to use, you can not use Threads in the Instagram app. Like the reasons above this does have a simple solution to the problem.

Fix – Make Sure Threads App is Downloaded Separately

As previously stated you will need to have the Threads app downloaded separately from the Instagram app on your mobile device. You will need your Instagram account to log into Threads but Threads is a separate app.

If you are trying to log into Threads using a different app this will not work and that is why you are seeing that Threads is not permitted. Download the Threads app and log into it using your Instagram account to see if this solves the issue.

5. Issue With Mobile Device

Another thing to consider when seeing that Threads is not permitted is this issue may be with the mobile device you are using. There could be a problem with your mobile drive and that is why you are unable to access Threads.

This could range from needing to just restart your phone and refresh it, to a glitch with your mobile decides software and it needs to be updated. If you have tried all of the solutions above and you are still seeing that Threads is not permitted another common reason is an issue with your mobile device.

Fix – Turn Mobile Device Off and Back On/Check For Mobile Device Update

The first thing you should do if you are having issues with your mobile device is the old trusty turn the device off the back on method. Believe it or not, this could be the solution to your problem.

When you restart your mobile device this can refresh features and apps on your mobile device that could be experiencing glitches. Once the mobile device is turned off, wait a few Minturn before restarting your mobile device.

Another thing you can do is check to see if there are any software updates for your mobile device. When you are running an outdated software version on your mobile device this can cause features and apps to malfunction.

Go into the Software option in your mobile device Settings to check for any software updates. If there is an update follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update.

In conclusion, if you are still seeing that Threads are not permitted after trying all the solutions I have listed above. The best thing you can try to do is contact the customer support to report the issue.

The issue could be with the Threads servers and you might have to wait till the issue is solved. Remember Threads is a brand new app that just recently was released. Issues are going to be common until Thread finally gets a handle on all the problems.
