The Cycle Friends Not Showing Up

The Cycle: Frontier released on June 08, 2022 and eager PC players have flocked to enjoy the free-to-play PvPvE (Player vs. Player vs. Environment) on Steam, to not only face other players attempting to scavenge in an abandoned alien world but also try to survive the elements that come with said alien world.

Unfortunately, the environment and possibly dangerous other players are not the only worries that players have had to deal with; rather, technical issues and of course, inevitable bugs that seem to always come along with newer releases. Luckily, here we have some helpful fixes for your tech problems.

Why Can’t I See My Friends List The Cycle: Frontier?

There are many possibilities as to what may be causing the issues with your friend’s list while playing Frontier: The Cycle on your Steam account.

The last thing you want while you are scavenging an abandoned facility on an alien world is to encounter problems with your friend’s list, possibly perpetuating your vulnerability in the hostile alien world.

Seeing as, in order to survive, you will want some trusty buddies to have your back. This can also be very inconvenient if you are streaming your gameplay as well; as it can definitely disrupt a mission to find some much-needed parts to craft a useful item.

With that said, this is most likely a bug issue with the software of the game, as there have been many reports of bugs with the Frontier: The Cycle game.

Also, this is not unexpected as almost all games (when initially launched) experience bugs; that is usually sorted out over the time the game is released and played by players. This can take weeks, months, or, in some extreme cases years.

Then the developers listen to the issues reported from social media sites or complaints directed to them through their website and emails.

This is why most gamers in the gaming community turn bugs into a joke because sure, they can take humorous forms such as; Elder Scrolls: Skyrim’s bugged out, OP (Over Powered), giants club that would send you flying across the map in a hilarious fashion.

With that said, bugs in games can also become quite annoying and inconvenient such as in the case of your friends list not showing up in Frontier: The Cycle.

1. Issue with Steam

Now, it is not uncommon for Steam players to encounter issues, bugs or even game glitches while utilizig the Steam service; however, this does not mean that their service or software is bad or faulty.

Being that Steam is both an online platform for gamers and a lightweight app for gamers; they are both software based programs that use servers.

If you do not know what a server does: A server is a computer or system that provides resources, data, services, or programs to other computers, known as clients, over a network.

Therefore, they are not only susceptible to issues, bugs, and or glitches. It is simply a matter of time before these problems occur.

With that in mind, Steam performs routine scheduled maintenance on their servers, and this maintenance day is in fact, every Tuesday; do not worry, though. Their servers are typically back online in under ten minutes.

Also, these problems usually do not last long as there are gamers on Steam, playing every day, and you can be sure that any issues will be reported and, therefore, will be resolved by either Steam or a little tech know-how.

Fix – Unadd Your Friend, Restart Steam, Then Add Each Other Again

If you are experiencing these problems with your friends list on Steam, one possible answer to this issue is to unadd your friend, restart Steam and add each other again.

This can help essentially reprocess the connection between you and your friend and of course, restarts Steam; restarting Steam can often help resolve problems with Internet connectivity when trying to load or play games.

You can restart Steam by closing and reopening the client or refresh your Steam files in the event you feel that Steam’s files may be modified, corrupted, missing, or misconfigured on your operating system. If you would in fact, like to also refresh your Steam files, follow these simple steps to do so:

Step 1. Completely exit the Steam client.

Navigate to your base Steam folder (where you installed it)

Step 2. Delete all files and folders EXCEPT “Steam.exe” and your SteamApps folder (or you may lose your installed games and need to re-download them)

Step 3. Relaunch Steam.

This will refresh your Steam files and could really help in the case of restarting Steam; as you are clearing any possible corrupt or dysfunctioning data from the program’s files.

Fix 2 – Log Out Then Log In

In this case it could serve you well to log out and then log back in. This can help the site or app reprocess not just your account but also all of the services and actions being requested/processed through it, such as; your friend’s list. Logging out can be simple, and if you are on Android using the app you can follow these steps to log out:

2. Poor Internet Connection

It can be all too easy to count out your internet connection as being the issue, though this very well might be the case in this scenario.

If you have a poor or weak internet connection, it will not be able to fulfill certain actions, such as showing your friends list on Steam while playing Frontier: The Cycle.

This is due to your devices’ needing a higher quality internet connection to perform certain actions. For example: if I am attempting to watch a YouTube video and also trying to send a text, the text will most likely carry-through first; seeing as the text takes less of an internet connection to carry out the request.

You can see how this can become problematic; while the internet connection is loading through all of the rest of the requests such as, the network connection between you and your friends, it is also trying to load through the friend’s list as well, with the other requests taking priority.

Fix – Restart the Game Fully

Another good fix to this issue can be to restart the game fully, relax we do not mean restart the campaign or anything like that. Luckily, this is simple enough to achieve.

Step 1. Open up the Steam app

Step 2. Tap on the Steam gear symbol. Step 3. Go to and select “Settings“. Step 4. Then go to the “Cloud” option.

Step 5. Uncheck where it says “Enable Steam Cloud Synchronization for Applications which support it”.

Step 6. Agree to this by clicking “OK“.

Step 7. Right click on the game you want to restart (Frontier The Cycle).

Step 8. Go to the “Properties“. Under the Properties option go to and select “Local Files” and proceed to the “Browse” option.

Step 9. Locate and click on “Saves” (Note: some games can differ, where the save file will be titled “SAVE.INI” or “SAVE.ANY” select all of the saves and delete them, you can left click then click “Delete” or you can move them to the “Recycle Bin“, either is acceptable.

This will fully restart your game.

Fix 2 – Restart Router

When having these issues with an internet connection, sometimes it can be best to restart your router.

See, your router is an integral part of your WiFi internet connection, as it receives the internet data from your modem and distributes it to all of your devices in your home, such as; your desktop, laptop, printer etc.

It is rather easy to restart your router and you can do so by following these steps:

Step 1. Unplug the router from the power outlet.

Step 2. Wait at least 30 seconds.

Step 3. Plug the router back into the outlet and wait another 30 seconds.

Step 4. Check and test your internet connection.

This will restart your router properly and should resolve the internet connection issue.

Fix – Reset Router

Similar but separate from restarting the router is to reset the router. You may be wondering “What is the difference?” the difference is that when you restart your router it simply cuts off the power to the router, and then you return the power to the router; as when you reset the router, you are resetting it back to its factory settings.

This can prove to be highly effective when having problems with your internet connection. Now, in order to reset your router, follow these simple steps:

Step 1. Keep your router plugged in.

Step 2. Find your router’s reset button. This will be on the back or the bottom of your router.

Step 3. Use a paperclip to hold down the reset button for 30 seconds.

Step 4. Release the button.

Step 5. Wait for the router to power back on.

This will reset your router and very well could be the answer to your internet connection issues.

3. Game File Corrupted

It is very possible that you may be dealing with a corrupt game file and if you do not know what that necessarily means: Corrupted files are computer files that suddenly become inoperable or unusable.

There are several reasons why a file may become corrupted. In some cases, it is possible to recover and fix the corrupted file, while at other times, it may be necessary to delete the file and replace it with an earlier saved version.

Fix – Verify Integrity of Game Files

Now, if you believe some of your game files may be corrupt and you want to check the integrity of said game files, you can do so surprisingly quite easily.

Remember, if your game files have been corrupted, they will not be usable; therefore, it will cause problems and difficulties when playing or interacting with the game.

Now, in order to check the integrity of your game files, follow these steps:

Step 1. Restart your computer and launch Steam

Step 2. Next, you can either right click the game in your Library, or click the gear icon from the game’s Library page on the far right

Step 3. From the drop down menu, select “Properties

Step 4. Select the Local Files tab and click the “Verify integrity of game files” button.

Step 5. Steam will verify the game’s files – this process may take several minutes.

Important Note: One or more files may fail to verify. This is normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files that should not be replaced as part of this process.

Important Warning: Do not run the verification process while performing other system-intensive processes, such as defragmenting your hard drive or scanning for viruses.

Do not run this process for multiple games at the same time.

These technical issues can be very frustrating and inconvenient when you are trying to enjoy a game on Steam, especially if you stream your gameplay; however, it is important to remember that all of these, the Steam app, your internet connection, and even your device, are all pieces of technology.

With that said, technology is not perfect… yet, so it is not only prone to but is also very likely to encounter problems when being utilized. Practice a little bit of patience in this regard, as these issues are just that, issues that will eventually be resolved.

Also, The Cycle: Frontier is a fantastic game that brings some unique and creative challenges. Not only is it challenging with its P-V-P-E setting, but it is also simply found. With that stated, remember to enjoy the game for all of its qualities and intriguing environments, facilities, and alien creatures.

Even in the face of technical problems, these problems can and will be fixed. Whether it is bugs in the games or Steam is encountering issues, they will eventually be resolved. So, enjoy the game and have some fun with your friends.
