TCL TV Light Blinking

If you own a TCL TV, you might notice that you have a problem turning it on. When you turn on a TCL TV, you plug it into an outlet, and then a red light turns on. Now, you grab your remote and press Power On, the red light blinks a couple of times and then disappears.

Once this light disappears, that is supposed to mean that your TCL TV should be turned on, but your screen is still black for some reason. If this is happening to you, we have plenty of remedies you can quickly try to get your TCL TV turning on and working.

Why is My TCL TV Light Blinking

1. Bug

Fix – Factory Reset By Pushing Pin Into the Small Hole at the Back

You can try to get your TCL TV to turn on if it will not after the lights stop blinking by doing a factory reset to your TCL TV.

1. To do this, you will need something with a small tip such as a paper clip.

2. Now, go to your TCL TV. Look for a very small hole labeled RESET on the back or underneath the TV.

3. Once you can locate and find this hole, push the end of the paper clip or other small item you had into this RESET hole.

4. Keep holding it down for a couple of moments so you can ensure your TCL TV is going through a factory reset.

5. Now, your TCL TV is reset, and you can try once again to get it to turn on.

Doing this will cause your TCL TV to default to factory settings and hopefully get you back to being able to use your TV.

Fix 2 – Unplug TV For 1 Minute

Another option that is a pretty simple fix but tends to be overlooked is to just unplug your TCL TV if the light was blinking, but your TCL TV will not turn on. The easiest way to go about this is to walk over to the outlet that your TCL TV is plugged into.

Once you have located this outlet, you must unplug the cord connected to your TCL TV from the outlet you have located. Once this is done, give your TCL TV 60 seconds to just be unplugged and not be on or working.

After this minute has passed, plug the cord back into the outlet and see if your TCL TV will now work after the light blinks and your TCL TV turns on. If the outlet is very difficult to get to, you can also unplug the cord from your TCL TV directly.

To make sure you are unplugging the right cord, just follow the cord from your outlet to your TCL TV. Once you have located the proper cord, unplug it from your TCL TV. Again, give it a minute to be unplugged and fully turned off.

In both instances, the longer you leave the TCL TV unplugged, whether from the TV itself or from the outlet, the better for your TCL TV. After a minute, plug the cord back into your TCL TV. Turn your TV on and see if this stops your TCL TV from having the light blink stop, but your TV will still not turn on.

Fix 3 – Turn on From TV and Not Remote

Your TCL TV may be fully functioning and ready to go, and the fault may lie in the remote and not your actual TV. This means you will have to manually turn on your TCL TV from the TV itself and not the remote.

1. To do this, you must click the power button on your TCL TV.

2. For most TVs and other technological devices, plugging them in usually activates the device and turns it on.

3. However, sometimes plugging in said device is not enough. Just click the power button on your TCL TV and this may get it to finally turn on.

By turning on your TCL TV from the power button located on your TV and not using your remote, you may be able to overcome the issues you were facing with it not turning on when the lights stopped blinking.

2. Bug with Remote

Fix – Reinsert Batteries

The batteries might also need to be reinserted in your remote, causing it to not power on your TCL TV when the light stops blinking.

1. Open up the back of the remote and grab the batteries.

2. Once you have removed your new batteries, load them into the back of the remote.

3. Writing inside the remote will show you a + or – sign on each end. Align the correct side of the battery up to each side, and then slide the cover back on.

This will reinsert your batteries in your remote and hopefully allow you to finally power up your TCL TV when the light stops blinking. There is also a chance that the remote batteries are actually dead. In this instance, you will need to replace them.

1. Start by opening up the back of the remote and taking out the current ones.

2. Remove the batteries from their slot.

3. You can toss them out, but check what size they are. Most remotes take AA or AA-sized batteries, so you will most likely need more of those.

4. If you do not have any batteries around your home, head on out to virtually any store and buy a pack of new ones. The more expensive they are, the more likely they will last longer.

5. Now load the new batteries into the remote. There will be writing inside the remote to show you a + or – sign on each end. Align the correct side of the battery up to each side and then slide the cover back on.

Fix 2 – Use Phone as Remote via Roku App

One way that you can try to use your TCL TV if it is not turning on even though the lights stop blinking is by using an app called Roku. Your TCL TV could be not working might rely on the remote and not your actual TV.

So, download the Roku app onto any device you have, such as a phone or tablet. This app will be located in your app store on your device.

1. Once you have downloaded the Roku app, make sure your device is connected to the same internet as your TCL TV, otherwise, the Roku app will not work with your TV.

2. Now that your phone or other device is connected to the same Wi-Fi as your TCL TV, open up the Roku app and press on Remote from the lower menu on your screen.

3. You will now have to select your TCL TV from the list of devices that appear on the Roku app.

4. Once you see your TCL TV, click on it and tap the Power On button to the right of your TV name.

Once you have done this, it will hopefully power on your TCL TV after the lights stop blinking and you can use the Roku app on your phone or device as a completely functional remote.

Fix 3 – Use Universal Remote

If you have another remote handy, this can be the remedy to your issues with your TCL TV not turning on even when the blinking stops. Since this TV is a Smart TV, you can download the Universal TV Remote app onto them.

1. Do so by going to the app store on your TCL. Search for the Universal TV Remote app.

2. Download it, and now you will need another remote.

3. Using the app, link your new remote to the Universal TV Remote app.

Now, this new remote can control your TV even if it is not a TCL remote. Once you download this app, you can also download the app onto another one of your devices such as a phone or a tablet. Having it on another device of yours will allow you to control you TCL TV through the app on your phone as well.

Fix 4 – Try a Different Power Outlet
