As a bonus, they can be of your favorite scenes from movies, television shows, videos and video games.

The best part? You can save your GIFs onto your Android phone. But how do you save GIFs onto an Android phone? It’s almost as easy as sending them.

Save a Gif Straight to your Android Phone

Find the particular GIF you’d like to save

1. Find the particular GIF you’d like to save. You can use Giphy, Tumblr, and even Google to search for a specific emotion, reaction or a specified movie, television show or video. If you’re using Google, you can narrow down the images that appear by select ‘GIF’ just below the search bar.

2. Tap and hold your finger on the GIF image until a window is prompted.

3. You have two choices: ‘Save Image’ or ‘Download.’ Picking either will give you the same results.

You can find the GIF in your Gallery app. If it isn’t in your Gallery app, locate it in your Downloads app. When you find it, you’re free to post it anywhere you can.

Using the Giphy App

1. Open the ‘Google Play Store’ app.

2. In the search field, type ‘Giphy.’ Select it.

3. Tap ‘Install.’ It will automatically begin downloading and installing the Giphy app.

4. Launch the ‘Giphy’ app.

5. In the search field, type anything you’re looking for and Giphy will send you to a second page where you’ll find anything relating to your keywords.

6. Select the GIF you want by tapping and holding your finger to the image. It will prompt a new window after a few seconds.

Transferring GIFs to your Phone from a Computer

If you’re looking to downloads tons of GIFs, a quicker way is using a computer to compile a folder and transferring the images with a USB cable, rather than slowly download each one.

Gather GIFs with a Computer

1. Create a new folder on your computer’s desktop. Name it something easily recognizable like ‘GIFS.’

2. Open your preferred browser and use your preferred search engine to find GIFs you want. If you use Google, it has a handy way of narrowing images that are only GIFs. Click ‘Tools,’ and then click ‘Type.’ Finally, in the menu, click ‘Animated.’

3. Find an image and right-click to open a menu. In the menu, click ‘Save image as…’

4. On the left hand panel, locate and click ‘Desktop.’ Find the folder for your GIFs.

5. Double-check ‘Save as type’ is set to ‘GIF Image’ and click ‘Save.’

6. Rinse and repeat until you have a sizable folder of GIFs.

Transferring the GIFs to your Android Phone

1. Plug your Android phone into your computer with the use of a USB cable.

2. Open a folder, any folder will do. On the left hand panel, click ‘This PC.’ Your device will appear under ‘Devices and drives.’ Double-click your Android phone’s icon.

3. Head into your Android phone’s storage. Locate and open the folder ‘Download.’

4. Open a second folder, the folder that contains all the GIFs you’d like to transfer. Click and drag a GIF over to your Android phone’s ‘Download’ folder. Or, alternatively, you can highlight all of the GIFs and drag them over all at once.

5. Close the folders and unplug your Android phone. The GIF, or GIFs, will appear in your ‘Downloads’ app or your ‘Gallery’ app. Now you’re free to send them anywhere you can.

How to Make a Gif with the Giphy App

1. Launch the ‘Giphy’ app.

2. Tap the ‘+’ icon at the bottom of the screen. Giphy will ask for permission if it hasn’t already. It needs permission in order to function correctly, especially now when it’s need for the process of creating a GIF.

3. Press and hold your finger on the big circle at the bottom. This will start recording. Find a video or create your own. Let go when you’re finished.

4. Press the arrow at the bottom right corner. Tap ‘Share GIF,’ (it doesn’t share it yet).

5. Finally, select ‘Save GIF.’ You don’t have to share. Hit the ‘X’ in the top left corner to cancel sharing.
