The renowned mail service Gmail has an estimated 1.2 billion users. Half of them use/check their Gmail account on their phones. Likewise, 200 million people use iPhone, and half of them have Gmail App installed on it.

Knowing how to remove a Gmail account from your iPhone is important. For example, if you have changed your account, or mistakenly saved the wrong Gmail account then you might want to delete them from your device. It is quite a straightforward procedure. Here is how you can do that.

1. Go to the Settings of your iPhone.

2. Locate the option Accounts and Passwords and tap on it.

3. Now you will be able to see a list of different mail services. Locate the option Gmail and tap on it.

4. Scroll down, locate the option Delete Account and tap on it.

5. Confirm your action by tapping Delete Account in the pop-up box.

6. Once confirmed, your account and all the accompanying data will be immediately removed from your device.

Users must understand that deleting an account from your iPhone’ settings only deletes it from your phone. It doesn’t delete the account from the server. Also, your emails or any other data will remain on the server and you can access it from anywhere.

This method will permanently delete the account from your iPhone. If you want your account to be temporarily suspended, you can do it by:

Disabling Gmail

1. Go to the Settings of your iPhone.

2. Tap on the option Account and Passwords.

3. Next tap on the option Gmail.

4. Toggle off the option Mail.

Doing this will just terminate your account for the time being. You can enable it any time you want via the same procedure.

Turn Off Notifications

This method will nor suspend or permanently delete your Gmail account. It will only stop the notifications. You will be able to send/receive emails whenever you want.

1. Go to the Settings of your iPhone.

2. Tap on the option Notifications.

3. Select the account for which you want to disable new mail notifications.

4. Toggle Allow Notifications button to off.
