Whether you’re on your Mac or on your iOS device, listening to music has been made easy ever since Apple released their Music subscription service. It made it easy to look for any song you want to download it so that you can listen to it offline.
When music goes from your iTunes cloud to your iOS device, sometimes the album artwork gets lost. Every song that you have in your iTunes library should have an album article. However, sometimes, the album artwork doesn’t appear on your iPhone or iPad when you’re listening to the music.
The Reason Album Artwork isn’t Showing
The main reason why your Album Artwork isn’t showing when you’re listening to music is that there’s a bug within the iTunes or Apple Music app on your iPhone that stops the album art from showing up. You need to troubleshoot the album artwork for it to show up in Apple Music.
1. Reset Album Artwork
The first thing you’ll need to do is to reset your Album Artwork. When you reset your music cover, iTunes will restore the original artwork that was associated with the song. This should allow you to see the music cover on your iPhone.
To reset the album artwork:
1. Open iTunes.
2. Click on Library.
3. Select Albums. This is on the left-hand column.
4. Right-click the album that’s not showing.
5. Choose Get Album Artwork.
6. Choose Get Album Artwork in the pop-up.
Check if the album cover has been restored when you play the song on your iPhone. If this did fix the problem, you’ll need to do it manually for all of the other Album Artworks that aren’t showing.
2. Clear Album Artwork Cache
On your Mac, iTunes stores a cache folder that contains all of your album artworks. Cache files are a set of temporary files that store data about the application so next time you’re trying to retrieve data from the app, it loads quicker because a cache file was stored when you did this the first time.
1. Go to Home folder.
2. Click on Music under Home.
3. Click iTunes folder.
4. Click Album artwork.
5. Right-click cache and delete it.
6. Delete it from Trash.
7. Restart iTunes.
Go to your iOS device and see if you can see the album cover when you play a song. If you can’t see the album cover, you’ll need to trouble iTunes further.
3. Update iTunes
If iTunes is out of date, then there may be a bug in iTunes that’s stopping your album artwork from showing up on your iPhone. Bugs are very common in old software and they can cause problems if they’re not removed.
1. Open iTunes.
2. Click Help at the top > Check for Updates.
3. Follow the prompts to install the latest version. Once you’re done, you can check if the music cover is showing up on your iPhone when you play a song.
4. Restart your iOS Device
If you’re still not able to see the album article, you can try restarting your iPhone. If you’ve troubleshot iTunes and the problem still hasn’t been resolved yet, the problem may be coming from your iPhone itself.
The first thing you’ll need to do to troubleshoot your iPhone is to turn it off then on. Restarting your iOS device is the easiest way to get rid of any bugs that could be causing it to fail when it’s trying to retrieve your album artwork.
5. Hard Restart
Another good way to troubleshoot your iPhone for an Apple Music bug is to force restart it. A force restart is a process of restarting your iPhone manually, physically or using any other method besides restarting it from the operating system. This can help troubleshoot problems on your iPhone
