Lately, Reminders app has been a bit tricky and its functionality isn’t as smooth as it used to be. It is either not working properly or showing incorrect information. In any case, it is a worrying thing for the users who are heavily reliant on this app. Well, the good news is that the problems within the Reminders app aren’t big; in fact, they are quite easy to address. Here is what you need to do:

Turn Off Reminders App and Turn it Back On:

Before opting for anything deeper, just go for the universal trick of switching off and on again. This is the simplest and perhaps a bit stupid of a solution, but it works most of the time in most cases. So, all you need to do is to turn this app from iCloud, leave it off for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Here is how:

1. Go to the Settings on your iPhone.

2. Tap on your Apple ID; the first option on the screen.

3. Tap the option iCloud.
Locate Reminders and toggle it off

4. Locate Reminders and toggle it off.

5. Toggle it on after 30-60 seconds and check if the issue has been addressed or not.

Remove from Widgets:

Removing the Reminders from the Widget screen has also helped some users to address this issue. You can do that by swiping right on your screen to prompt search screen. Now scroll down to the bottom and locate the option Edit. Upon tapping this option, you would be able to remove the Reminders widget by pressing the – icon just before it.

After doing that, go to the settings to check Banners and Alerts settings for your Reminders app. You can do that by:

1. Go to the Settings on your iPhone.

2. Hit the option Notifications.
locate the option Reminders and tap on it

3. Scroll down and locate the option Reminders and tap on it.
Allow Notifications and Badges

4. Now make sure the options Allow Notifications and Badges are toggled on.

Uninstall and Reinstall:

Since now Apple allows you to delete the built-in apps, uninstalling Reminders app to reinstall it again may well sort out the issue for you. It is not a perfect solution by any means but again, it delivers for the purpose. Press-hold on the Reminder app on your home screen until the apps start shaking. Now tap on the X button over the app’ icon to remove it. Once deleted, go back to the App Store and reinstall it again.

Update iOS:

iOS is central to every functionality, feature and app on the iPhone. The main reason why Apple introduces regular updates is to enhance the phone’ functionality and address issues/bugs within the apps and the features. If you are running on an older iOS when a new update is available then you instantly need to update your iOS. Old iOS could be one of the main reasons why Reminders app is not working. To do that:

1. Go to the option General in the Settings.

2. Tap on the option Software Update.

3. Download and install the update.

First, try a normal restart via the sleep/wake button to see if addresses the issues. If not, you may have to hard reset your phone. To do that:

For iPhone 8 or Later:

Quickly press-release the volume up button, then press-release the volume down button in quick succession. Once done, press-hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

For iPhone 7 & 7 Plus:

Press-hold the sleep/wake button in tandem with volume down button for at least 7-10 seconds. Do not release them until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

For iPhone 6 Plus & Previous Models:

Press-hold the home and side/top button (as per the model) for 10 seconds. Do not release them until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

Reset All Settings:

If the above method doesn’t work, put your final bet on this method to work for you. This method will factory restore all settings, but it won’t delete any data on your iPhone. To do that:

1. Go to the Settings.

2. Tap General.

3. Scroll down to the bottom and hit Reset.
tap Reset All Settings

4. Now tap Reset All Settings. Provide the passcode if required.

Once it is done, go to the Reminders and it will be working fine.
