How to Connect your Kindle Fire to WiFi

When you buy a lower cost device like this, there are always things that it won’t be able to do that you can with the more expensive devices. The biggest issue with the Amazon Fire Tablet line is that they don’t support Google Play apps. The tablets run on an android operating system, but it is not the same as other Android devices. Amazon actually made a custom version of the Android OS for their devices and completely remade all the Google Play apps into their own versions as well.

Since Google doesn’t support the Fire Tablets, you can’t find Google apps in the Amazon app store. This means that you won’t be able to find apps like YouTube. YouTube is a Google app that allows you to watch movies, videos, shows, and even listen to music nowadays. Since you can’t get YouTube from the Amazon App Store, you might think you are out of luck.

That isn’t the case though. Even though the Amazon Fire Tablets aren’t supported by Google, you can still get the Play Store on them and Google supported apps just like YouTube. You can’t just go and download the app though. It’s a little more difficult and time consuming than that sadly. This is called sideloading and you can do it on most, if not all, Android devices. This will take anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes of your time to do, depending on your abilities with technology.

To start, you used to have to use another device in doing this to your Fire tablets. Luckily for all of you, this isn’t the case anymore. You can do this entire process straight from your Kindle Fire. All you need to understand is how you install apps from a place other than the normal app store that your device uses.

You will also need some time on your hands because there are several steps to making this a possibility on these devices. In fact, it takes 4 packages to run Google Play Store correctly on these tablets. These packages include a File Manager from the App store, four separate APK files that come from APKMirror, your Google Account, and you’ll need to have your device up to date and running the newest Fire OS 5.X.

Installing A File Browser From the Amazon App Store

Before you do anything else, you may want to install a file browser onto your Fire tablet. This may not be required, but this will make things easier in the long run, so you don’t run into issues later in this article. A good file manager to install is File Commander because it is a free app and it is easy to use to view files on these tablets.

That is all you need out of the file manager in this task. The majority of people that try to do this without downloading a file manager end up reporting issues when it comes to installing APK files. If you want, you can delete it after completing the installation of YouTube on your Fire tablet. If you really don’t want to download a file managing app, you can use Docs to view your download folder and access the install files that you will be getting shortly.

Enable Apps From Unknown Sources

So, to get YouTube installed on your Amazon Fire tablet, you will need to start by enabling apps from unknown sources. Both versions of the Android OS the same way of installing third party apps, also known as apps from Unknown Sources.

These are apps that are not going to be found in the Amazon App Store. People who use iOS can’t do this. Apple will not allow it. Installing apps from unknown sources can be dangerous if you aren’t careful, just a warning. Android allows installing any app as long as you enable the function.
