There are plenty of reason why your Instagram feed isn’t showing up and why your pictures aren’t loading.
Why Isn’t Instagram Loading Properly?
As mentioned above, there a plethora of reasons why your Instagram won’t load properly. The main issues are because of network issues. Another popular reason why your Instagram won’t load is because of a bug.
Instagram May is not Loading Due to Routine Maintenance
Another popular reason why your Instagram pictures won’t load on your iPhone is because of routine maintenance. Instagram does this regularly when they’re trying to work on Instagram and the servers go down due to it.
Once the servers are down, the Instagram app isn’t going to load properly. The most likely reason for this issue to occur is because the servers are down. When the servers are down, everyone will be talking about it on another social media platform such as Snapchat.
This is a good way to found out if servers are down because it’s going to affect a large variety of people, not just you.
It’s very easy to find out when servers are down. Go to Google search and type in ‘is Instagram down’. You’ll then see some information regarding this.
If this is the case, you’ll need to wait for the app to go back on the server and this is usually when they’re finished with the maintenance.
Update Instagram in the App Store
The next thing you can do if you’re still experiencing this issue to update the app. Updates are made to fix bugs and to give apps new features. If Instagram isn’t loading due to bug issues, there’s no way you can troubleshoot this without updating the app and seeing if it fixes the problem.
Bugs can cause apps to slow down or not to work at all.
If there’s an update available for Instagram, you’ll need to update it.
To update Instagram:
- Go to the App Store
- Tap on the Updates icon on the bottom right
- Look beside Instagram and tap on ‘UPDATE’
Once the new update has been installed, you can go into the app and check whether your feed and pictures are loading.
If this didn’t solve the issue, go back to the next step.
Uninstall and Reinstall
If updating Instagram didn’t help, the next best thing to do is to uninstall and re-install the app. There are always software problems that cause a number of issues to occur within apps.
There is no way to check if a software issue is causing Instagram not to work properly. The only you can make sure that it’s not a software problem is to uninstall the app and reinstall it.
To uninstall Instagram:
- Hold the Instagram app
- Wait for the x icon to pop up on the left
- Tap on the x to delete it and tap on delete again to confirm your decision
- Go to the App Store and reinstall Instagram
Once you have uninstalled and reinstalled Instagram, log back into the app with your username and password and check if Instagram is working properly.
Uninstalling and re-installing the app would have cleared the data in the app itself which may have fixed your problems.
If this didn’t work for you, move to the next step.
Turn your WI-FI Off then On
If none of the steps above have worked, you may have some network issues which is another very popular reason why Instagram may not load.
It may appear on your device that you’re connected to WI-FI but in reality, your router is down, and you’re not connected to the internet at all.
The most simple and easiest way to fix this problem is to turn your router off then on. To do this:
- Locate the on/off button on the side of your router
- Push this button to turn it off
- Wait for 10 seconds and turn it on by pushing the same button
Your router should take at least 5 minutes to fully turn back on. Once this is done, go to Settings and check whether you’re connected to the router.
Once your iPhone has connected to WI-FI, go back to Instagram and check whether it’s loading properly. If it’s not loading properly, move onto the next step.
Backup and Restore
If you’ve tried all the steps above and Instagram still won’t load, you’ll need to backup and restore your iPhone with a DFU restore.
This is the deepest type of restore you can perform on your iPhone and it’s a very popular troubleshooting step when there’s a software issue on your device that’s causing Instagram not to work.
A DFU restore strips the code and data on your iPhone or iPad, updates the OS, then puts everything back on.
This can get rid of any software issues that are happening on your iPhone.
Before you restore your phone, you’ll need to back up your iPhone because you’re going to lose all of your data after the restore.
