However, users have encountered a lot of difficulty in uploading pictures from their phones to Xbox One and using the pictures for profile pictures or for any other purpose.

Initially, the easiest way to transfer photos from a phone to Xbox One was to use the Onedrive app on Xbox One.

Users simply needed to upload the photo from the phone to Onedrive and then open the Onedrive app on Xbox One, sign in using the same account that they used on their phone, and then access the pictures that were uploaded.

However, Microsoft has since removed Onedrive from Xbox One. So, what are the alternatives to uploading pictures from a phone to Xbox One? Read on to find out.

Can You Upload Pictures to Xbox One From Your Phone?

Yes, you can upload pictures to Xbox One from your phone. However, the process is no longer as simple as uploading the pictures to Onedrive from your phone and then accessing the pictures from the Onedrive app on your Xbox One.

Now, to upload pictures from your phone to Xbox One, you would need to use other alternatives, some of which could get a bit complex.

However, in this article, we are going to provide you with all the methods to upload pictures from your phone to Xbox One, whether you are using an iPhone or Android phone, in clear and simple steps.

How to Upload Pictures to Xbox One From Any Phone

Here, we are going to provide you with steps to upload pictures to Xbox One from any phone, irrespective of the operating system of the phone.

There is no best method; the method you use is entirely up to you based on your preference and what is available to you.

1. Use The Xbox App

This is the simplest and perhaps quickest way to upload pictures from your phone to your Xbox, especially if the purpose is to use the picture as a gamer pic or profile picture.

In this case, all you need to do is go to your phone’s application store, search for Xbox and install the application on your phone. Once you have done this, launch the Xbox app on your phone and follow the steps below:

1. Tap on your gamerpic icon in the bottom menu on the Xbox app to open the profile tab

2. Select the edit icon next to your gamerpic at the top of the screen

3. Here, you have the option of either selecting a picture from the gamer pic library or uploading a custom gamerpic. Select the photo library icon and then select the photo from your mobile device.

4. Pinch and drag the circle to crop the photo into the image you want as your gamerpic or profile picture, and then select upload.

Please note that uploading a photo from your phone as your profile picture is subject to the Xbox community standards. Xbox will moderate and possibly remove your photo if deemed inappropriate.

2. Send To Email or Drive

Another method to transfer photos from your phone to Xbox One is to send the photo as an email and then access the email from your Xbox One console.

To do this, first, use your phone to attach and send the photos to your email address. Next, follow the steps below to access the photos from your Xbox One console:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the side menu

2. Select My Games and Apps and then select See All

3. Next select Apps from the left menu

4. From the list of applications, select Edge, which comes pre-installed on your Xbox One

Once you launch the Edge browser, you can then go to your email or cloud drive in the URL box, open the attachment that you sent, and download the photo to your Xbox One.

If you are not able to access the photo from your Xbox One, you can download a file explorer application from the Xbox store called My Files Explorer.

This application will allow you to open your files on Xbox One and access the photos that you have transferred from your phone.

3. Use a USB External Storage Drive

The final alternative that works for both Android and iPhones is to use a USB drive to transfer the photo to your Xbox One.

To do this, you would need first to transfer the photo from your phone to a computer, then from the computer to the USB drive, and then finally from the USB drive to Xbox One.

Once you plug the USB drive into your Xbox One, it will immediately play the content of the USB, and then you can access the photo directly on your Xbox One console.

How to Upload Pictures To Xbox One From Android

The options provided above work for both Android and iOS phones. However, we have also provided options that work specifically for each phone OS.

Therefore, to upload pictures to Xbox One from an Android phone, follow the steps below:

1. Open the play store on your Android phone and download iMediaShare

2. After installing the application, launch it on your Android phone and leave it open

3. Then head over to your Xbox One console and launch the native Media Player app. If your Xbox One is up-to-date, then the media player app should already be installed on the console.

4. If you do not find the media player app, please head over to the Xbox store and download Media Player. Be sure to download only the official Microsoft Media player for Xbox One.

5. Next, launch media player, and your Android phone will appear on the media player screen with iMediaShare next to your phone’s name

6. Click on your phone’s name with iMediaShare to open the media on your Android phone

7. Select Photos from the options to open the photos on your Android phone

8. Here, you can explore all the photos on your Android phone.

9. If you want to set a photo from your phone as your Xbox background, click on the photo and then press the pause button on your Xbox controller

10. Finally, select Set As Background to set the photo from your phone as your Xbox background photo.

How To Upload Pictures To Xbox One From iPhone

The steps to upload pictures to Xbox One from iPhone are similar to that of transferring to an Android phone; only the application to be used will differ. Follow the steps below carefully to upload pictures from your iPhone to Xbox One.

1. First, head over to the app store and download an application called TV Assist

2. Ensure that your iPhone and Xbox are connected to the same network

3. Then, launch the TV Assist application and then click on Settings. You will find Settings at the bottom right of the TV Assist home screen.

4. On the settings page, there are two settings that you must tick in order to be able to transfer photos from your iPhone to Xbox One.

5. Once you make sure that these settings are checked, exit the TV assist application and swipe it away from recent items.

6. Please ensure that you do this first because the process will not work if you do not perform this step. Closing the application and swiping it away from recent items is like restarting the applications to allow the settings that you have just made to take effect.

7. Next, launch the TV Assist application again, open settings, and make sure that the two settings that you ticked are still checked.

8. Leave the app open

9. Next, head over to your Xbox console and launch Media Player. If Media Player is not already installed on your Xbox One, please go ahead and install it right away.

10. Make sure that you only install the official Microsoft Media player application. This process will not work with any other media player applications on the application store.

11. Once you launch the media player, your iPhone will appear on the Xbox console with TV Assist next to your phone’s name

12. If this screen does not appear immediately, please wait for about 30 seconds. The screen for TV Assist will eventually open on your Xbox One console. Again, this will only work if you have the TV Assist application still open on your iPhone.

13. When the TV assist screen does eventually come up on your Xbox console, you may see several instances of your iPhone with TV Assist next to them.

14. You may need to click each one of them to find the option that is the correct mirror for your iPhone. The easiest way to know the correct option is to find the option that opens immediately when you click it.

15. If you click on an option and it takes a little while to load, please go back and select another option. The correct option will open immediately when you click on it.

16. When it opens, the media on your iPhone will be displayed in categories, including photos, music, videos, and files.

17. Click on photos and then click on albums to open all the pictures on your iPhone.

18. Here, you can view all the photos on your iPhone.

19. If, for example, you want to set a particular photo as your background on Xbox One, simply select the photo then, press the Pause button on the Xbox controller and then select Set As Background.

Why Can’t I Transfer Photos From Phone to Xbox One

The methods that we have provided in this article have been tested and confirmed to work at the time of writing this article.

If you try any of these methods and it does not work for you, then there are possible issues with either your setup or your devices. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to fix the issue of not being able to transfer photos from to Xbox One.

1. Xbox One Out-Of-Date

One of the major causes of users being unable to transfer photos from their phone to Xbox One is that the Xbox One software is out of date.

If your Xbox One is out of date, it may not be able to integrate properly with other devices and software, such as your phone, media sharing applications, or USB devices.

Therefore it is important to ensure that your Xbox One is up to date before attempting to transfer photos from your phone to the Xbox One. Follow the steps below to update your Xbox One:

To update Xbox manually:

1. Ensure that your Xbox is connected to the internet. We recommend using an ethernet cable for this.

2. Press the Xbox button on your controller.

3. Select Profile and System.

4. Select Settings.

5. Select System.

6. Select Updates and Downloads.

7. Select Update Console.

8. To set Xbox to update automatically, you would need to enable Instant-on. This is to enable updates to download and install in the background:

9. Press the Xbox button on your controller.

10. Select Profile and System.

11. Select Settings.

12. Select General.

13. Select Power Mode and Startup.

14. Select Power Mode and set it to Instant-on.

15. Press the B button to go back to Settings.

16. Select System.

17. Select Updates and Downloads.

18. Check the box to Keep My Console Up To Date.

2. Issues With Setup

Another possible reason why you are unable to transfer photos from your phone to Xbox One is that there is an issue with your setup.

1. For example, when using iMediaShare or TV assist, you need to make sure that the applications are open on your phone in order for it to work on the Xbox One console.

2. Also, you need to ensure that the phone and the Xbox console are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

3. For TV Assist on iPhone, you need to make sure that you check the options to allow the phone to work as a media server and media renderer.

4. Furthermore, if File Explorer is not available on your Xbox console, you need to install a third-party file explorer application such as My Files Explorer to be able to access downloaded files on your Xbox console.

Once your Xbox console is up-to-date and you have the right setup, you should have no issues transferring photos from your phone to your Xbox One console.
