How to Use Google Photos to Transfer Photos From Your Android to Your Computer

1. You need to open your Google Photos app on your Android. This app looks like a multi-colored pinwheel. This will open a page with all your photos that you already have saved to Google Photos. If you aren’t signed in already you will need to enter your email address and password when asked

2. Tap the Menu button that looks like Three Horizontal Lines stacked on each other in the top left corner of your screen. This will make a pop-up menu appear

3. Now, Tap Settings which will be at the bottom of the menu

4. Next, you want to tap Back up & sync at the top of the Settings menu

6. After you are done with this you want to open Google Photos on your favorite web browser on your computer. you may have to login just like you had to on your Android. This will open up your Google Photos as long as they are backed up from your Android

7. If they are backed up, you can select the photos that you want to download to your computer by clicking on the check box in the top left corner of each photo you want to transfer. If you want to download just one at a time you can, or you can download entire months of albums by clicking on the check box next to the month of album name

8. After you have selected the photo or photos you want to download to your computer, click on the button in the top right corner of the Google Photos page that looks like Three Vertical Dots to open a Menu

9. In this Menu, you want to click on Download. When you click it, the photos will start to download to your computer. When they are done downloading you can delete them from your Android if your goal was to free up storage space

How to Use USB to Transfer Photos From Your Android to Your Computer (Windows)

1. First, you want to connect your Android to your computer using the charging cable that came with your device. Your Android might ask you what kind of connection type you want to use. If so, choose Media device (MTP)

2. Open your Start Menu by clicking on the Windows Logo in the bottom left corner of your screen

3. Locate and Open your File Explorer which looks like a Folder Shaped Icon

4. Out of the device selections available, choose your Androids Name. You may have to scroll to find it

5. Now, Double click on the Internal Storage or SD Card folder depending on where you have your photos stored

9. Click on the Home Tab in the top left of your File Explorer window to open a Toolbar

10. In the Toolbar, click on Copy which looks like two sheets of paper under the Clipboard section of the Toolbar. In this Toolbar you can also select Cut if you want to delete the photos from your Android after downloading them to your computer

11. You will need to choose the save location that you want the photos to be transferred to

12. Finally, you want to click Home and then click Paste. The paste icon looks like a clipboard and will be right next to Copy. When you click this, your photos will be copied into the folder you selected to save them to. When you click Cut in the Toolbar the photos will be erased from your Android Device so be careful not to click this on accident

How to Transfer Photos From Your Android to Your Computer Using USB (Mac)

1. You need to connect your Android to your Mac using the charging cable that came with your device. If your Android asked what type of connection to use, tap on Media device (MTP)

2. Next, open your web browser on your Mac because you will need to download a program to help your Android and Mac work together

3. Go to the Android File Transfer Page to open the download page

4. Click the Download Now button in the middle of the screen. This will download the Android File Transfer Setup file. You may have to confirm the download depending on your Macs’ settings

5. Once the setup file is downloaded, you can install the program. Just double click the file, verify the file in System Preferences, and then click and drag the Android File Transfer icon onto the Applications Shortcut

6. When you have the program installed, open Android File Transfer

7. Now, double click the internal storage or SD card folder

8. Double click the DCIM folder

9. Double click the Camera folder and if you need to, double click on the album folder that holds the photos you want to transfer

10. Here, you will pick the Android photos that you want to transfer onto your Mac by clicking and dragging your mouse over the photos or by holding down the Command key and clicking individual photos

11. Click on Edit which will be at the top left corner of your Macs’ screen to open a drop down menu

12. In this menu, you want to click on Copy. This will copy the photos that you selected. If you want to remove the photos from your Android, you can click Cut here instead of Copy

13. After the photos are copied, you need to open Finder by clicking the icon that looks like a blue and white smiling face

14. In Finder, you need to select where you want your photos to be saved to
