How to Know If Someone Muted You on Instagram?

Instagram was originally just for photos, but in recent years have added the ability to take videos and share them through messages and post them to their story or profile. These videos have time limits though.

A user can post a video that is from 3 seconds to 1 minute long to their Instagram feed. A video that is posted to your story, however, is limited to only 15 seconds. So, is there any way to get around these time limits? Yes, there are actually a few methods of posting longer videos to Instagram.

Multiple Clips

The most basic way to sidestep the time limit on Instagram’s video posts is really not getting around it technically. It is working with what you have. It is just posting a longer video in multiple clips to get the full video uploaded.

Say you have a video that is 1 minute long that you want to post to your Story. You obviously can’t post the full video in one piece because of the 15 second time limit. You will want to trim your video into four 15 second videos and then post them all.

7. Here you can add a caption and location to the post if you want

8. Finally, tap Share

Your video will be posted to your regular Instagram feed and then you can share it to your Story from there. The video won’t be seamless of course because of the time in between clips in Stories. There are apps out there that you can purchase that will somewhat automate this process for you if you don’t feel like doing the work yourself.

Going Live

One of the big downsides to the method above is the fact that it won’t be a seamless video. This can be an issue if you are trying to look professional or at least like you know what you are doing. The best way to get around this is to make your video by going Live on Instagram.

Instagram live videos have a time limit of 1 hour. Luckily for you, Instagram recently had an update that allows you to post live videos to your Story where people can view them for 24 hours. You cannot post the live video to your Instagram collection of course. It can also only be shared to your Story when you have finished your live video. You can also save the video to your phone or computer so that you can edit it later if you like.

If all of this seems like too much for you, your best bet for now is to just post your videos to your Facebook until Instagram decides to change things up.
