Mobile

1. Change Who Can See Your Friends List to Only Me

Changing your privacy settings on your device’s app to only being you who can see who you are friends with is a way to hide the Mutual Friends section on your Facebook page.

1. On your device, open up Facebook and go to Menu in the bottom right corner.

2. Once there, tap on Settings and Privacy.

3. Now, scroll down to Audience and Visibility.

4. Now, select How People Find and Contact You.

5. Then, go to Who Can See Your Friends List. Public will not be selected.

6. Select More > Only Me.

2. Hide Friends List From Specific People By Clicking Specific Friends in Friends List Settings

You can also just choose specific people who you do not want to be able to see your friends in their Mutual Friends page on Facebook through your device on the app.

1. On your device, open up Facebook and go to Menu in the bottom right corner.

2. Once there, tap on Settings and Privacy.

3. Now, scroll down to Audience and Visibility.

4. Now, select How People Find and Contact You.

5. Then, go to Who Can See Your Friends List. Public will not be selected. Change that so you have Friends except… selected with a blue checkmark.

6. Now, you will be able to scroll through all of your friends on Facebook, as well as search for them at the top of the screen.

This way, you can select which friends you would like to hide from. Once you do this, friends of the friends you selected will be hidden from your Mutual Friends list on Facebook until you decide to go back in and change it.

1. Do this by clicking on the downwards triangle icon in the upper right side of the screen, right next to your name.

2. From the menu appears, select Settings and Privacy from the drop down menu. Now, click on Settings from the menu again.

3. Now, select Privacy from the menu on the left. Scroll until you see the heading saying How People Find You and Contact You.

4. Under this heading, you will see Who Can See Your Friends List?. Select edit to the right of that.

5. Now, where Public appears, select Only Me. This way, no one will be able to see who you are friends with, ensuring that Mutual Friends is hidden on your Facebook page.

2. Hide Friends List From Specific People By Clicking Specific Friends in Friends List Settings

You can also just choose specific people who you do not want to be able to see your friends in their Mutual Friends page on Facebook through your personal computer or desktop.

1. Do this by clicking on the downwards triangle icon in the upper right side of the screen, right next to your name.

7. Select which friends you do not want to have mutual friends of appearing in your Mutual Friends section on Facebook.

This will ensure that these individuals never can see who you have mutual friends with nor will your mutual friends appear in their Mutual Friends section on their page.

Other Ways Hide Mutual Friends on Facebook

1. Block The Person You Don’t Want to See Your Mutual Friends

You can easily avoid seeing someone’s profile in your Mutual Friends area by blocking the individual you do not want to see. If they have been blocked, they cannot appear in this section on your feed.

To do this on the app:

1. Open up Facebook and then search for the person you are trying to block in the upper left side of the screen by clicking on the magnifying glass.

2. Once you are at that person’s page, there will be three dots next to their name.

3. Click on those three dots and you will have the option to Block [Name].

4. Select this option and they will be blocked.

Since their account is now officially blocked, they will not appear in your Mutual Friends area.

1. Go to Facebook.com and search for the person’s profile you want to block on the left upper side of your screen where you see Search Facebook next to the magnifying glass icon.

2. Once you are at their page you will see three dots. Click on those three dots and you will have the option to Block.

3. Select on Block and they will have been officially blocked. They can no longer appear in your Mutual Friends section.

2. Give Them Another Facebook Account That Doesn’t Contain Your Mutual Friends

If there is someone specific you do not want to have mutual friends to be appearing in your Mutual Friends area, you can avoid this by giving them another Facebook account that does not have any of your real friends so that they cannot see your mutual friends.

To do this. you will want to make another profile to give to them.

If you want to do this on an app, you will need to log out of your current account.

1. Do this by clicking on Menu in the lower right corner of your screen.

2. Then, scroll all the way to the bottom and select Log Out.

3. Now, instead of clicking Sign In when at the Facebook log in page, select Sign Up.

4. You will now be able to make a new account and all you will need is an email that you did not use for your other account.

5. Once you have created this new account, make sure you send the friend request to the individual who you are trying to avoid being able to see your Mutual Friends.

If they send you the friend request, they may see that you have two different accounts.

By adding them through this new account, you will have no other friends so they cannot see your mutual friends. You can also do this on your personal computer or laptop.

1. First, log out of Facebook.com.

2. Do this by clicking on the downwards triangle icon in the upper right side of the screen, right next to your name.

3. From the menu that appears, select the last option that says Log Out.

4. Now, instead of clicking Sign In when at the Facebook log in page, select Sign Up.

6. Once you have created this new account, make sure you send the friend request to the individual who you are trying to avoid being able to see your Mutual Friends.

3. Unfollow Your Friends so They’ll Be Following You But People Won’t See Them In the Mutual Friends Section

On Facebook, you also have the option to be following someone instead of friends with them to see their content and interact with them. This is only the case if they or you have a public profile instead of a private one.

If this is the case and you want to stop seeing their friends in the Mutual Friends area on Facebook, all you have to do is unfollow them so their friends no longer appear in your Mutual Friends area. They will still be following you back, however.

To do this on the app:

1. Open it up and search for their profile in the search bar located on the left upper side of the screen.

2. This search bar will be signaled with a magnifying glass.

3. Once you have located their profile after searching for it, you will see Following right under their name.

4. Tap on Following and an option will appear to Unfollow.

5. Select this and now you have unfollowed them.

This will ensure none of their friends appear in your Mutual Friends section since you are not friends with them, even though they still follow you. This can also be done on your personal computer or desktop as well.

To do this:

1. Go to Facebook.com and get logged in.

2. Once you are logged in click on the icon that includes nine circles in the upper right corner of your screen.  This icon is located right next to your name.

3. From the drop down menu that appears, select Groups.

4. Go to the person’s profile you want to unfollow that can be found on the left side of your screen. You can also just search for the person’s profile as well in the search bar.

5. Once at their profile, you will see Joined or Following in the upper right part of your screen, right below your name.

6. Click on Joined or Following and then select Unfollow from the options that appear after you select Joined or Following.

This will, again, ensure that their friends do not show up in your Mutual Friends area as you are not following them anymore, but they are still following you.

This can be undone, if you ever want to, on both the app and the website by locating the same person’s profle and following them once more.

However, this new following will notify them so they will learn that you unfollowed them at one point, but they will not know when.

4. Unfriend Everyone

Another option you have to ensure you can still somewhat use Facebook but never have to see the pesky Mutual Friends area again on your page is to unfriend everyone you are friends with on Facebook.

To do this on the app:

1. Open up Facebook and then go to Menu in the bottom right corner.

2. Now, click on Friends so you see the full list of friends that you have on Facebook.

3. Once here, there will be three dots next to each of your friends.

4. Click on those three dots and you will have the option to Delete Friend.

5. You will then have to scroll through your entire friends list and continue this process with each friend.

This will ensure you never see the Mutual Friends area again on your Facebook page as you have no friends on the app.

You can also do this on your personal computer or desktop as well.

1. Go to Facebook.com and click on the icon that includes nine circles in the upper right corner of your screen.

2. This icon is located right next to your name.

3. Once you have selected this icon, click on Friends from the drop down menu.

4. Now, you will be brought to the Home page of your friends and see Friend Requests and People You May Know. Ignore these and tap All Friends from the menu that has appeared on the left side of your screen.

The left side of your screen will now show you how many friends you have and show you a list of all of your friends. Next to each friend will be three dots.

5. Click on those three dots and you will have the option to Unfriend [Name].

6. Press this option. You will then have to scroll through your entire friends list and continue this process with each friend.

Doing this will make sure you do not see any Mutual Friends areas on your Facebook page because you no longer have any Facebook friends. This will make sure you never see the Mutual Friends area on both your personal computer or desktop and any device you use Facebook on.

This can easily be undone, if you want to, by going and sending a new Friend Request to your since removed friends on Facebook.

5. Delete Your Facebook Account

If you really just hate seeing the Mutual Friends section on your Facebook page to the point that you just hate it with all of your guys, another way to permanently hide Mutual Friends forever is to simply delete your Facebook account. R

emember, this will be permanent and you will not be able to ever access this Facebook account again. If you do not want to do it permanently, follow these same steps, but click on Deactivate instead of Delete.

This will allow you to be able to re-go to and re-use this same Facebook account in the future if you ever want to. To delete your Facebook account through the app:

1. Click on Menu and then scroll down until you see Settings.

2. Tap Settings and go to the Your Facebook Information heading. Once there, you will have to select Account Ownership and Control.

3. Next, select Open. You will now be able to see Deactivation and Deletion. Select that option and then click on Delete Account.

4. You will then have to confirm that you are deleting your account and after you click on confirm, you have successfully deleted your Facebook account.

You can also do this online from your personal computer or desktop.

1. Start by going to Facebook.com and logging in.

2. Once you are logged in, click on the downwards triangle located on the far top right section of your screen.

3. Now, select Settings and Privacy. There will then be a large menu located on the left side of your screen.

4. Click on Your Facebook Information from this menu. At the bottom, you will see Deactivation and Deletion.

5. Select View to the right of that.

6. Now, check Delete Account and click on Continue to Account Deletion. You will then have to once again confirm that you want to completely delete your Facebook account. Selecting confirm will delete your Facebook account.

Once this is done on either your device or on a personal computer or desktop, you will no longer be able to see Mutual Friends on Facebook because you no longer have a Facebook.
