If you’re someone who still uses CDs, then you’re familiar with the joy of burning a new one. You can have a unique CD with your favorite songs on it and slip it into your car CD player to have a jam session. Older CDs had the songs stuck on there permanently, but if you use a CD- RW, then you can delete songs and replace them with new ones. This is a great way to avoid having way too many CDs in your possession since you can just switch the songs instead of creating another CD. Here’s how you delete a song on a CD- R.

How to Delete Songs from a CD- R on Windows

1. Enter the CD into your computer’s CD drive. If your computer doesn’t have a CD drive, then you can buy a DVD drive and connect it to your computer.

2. Use your keyboard to open File Explorer. Windows + the “E” key will open it. You can also click on the file icon on your taskbar. If you hover your mouse around the edges of your screen, the taskbar should appear wherever you placed it.

3. On the left column of your File Manager, click on the option that says “This PC.” Once you do, you’ll be tale to all the folders and devices that are on your PC.

4. On the bottom half of the screen, you’ll see a section labeled “Devices and Drives.” Click on the one with the icon of a CD. If you have a drive attached, then you’ll have to click on the drive and wait for the disk information to open.

5. When the lists of files on the CD appear, hold down the Ctrl key. Now you can click on the file that you want to delete one by one while holding down the Ctrl key.

6. All you have to do is use the Delete key on your keyboard to delete all of the files you selected.

How to Delete Songs from a CD- R on Mac

1. Enter the CD into your computer’s CD drive. If your computer doesn’t have a CD drive, then you can buy a DVD drive and connect it to your computer.

2. Now, click on the “GO” tab located at the top of your screen on the left. A menu will appear.

3. On the menu, click on “Utilities.” You should see this option near the bottom of the menu. A window will open.

4. In the window, click on the option that says “Disk Utility.” The icon should look like a disk hard drive.

5. The folder will open and you’ll have to click on your disk’s name on the left column. The contents of the disk will open.

6. Click on each of the files and choose to delete the ones that you want to delete by right clicking on all of the ones you want to remove.

7. Hit delete on the menu and they’ll disappear.

Now, you can replace the files in your CD with new songs for you to listen to.
