Funimation Buffering

If you are an anime lover, chances are you enjoy watching some of your favorite ones on Funimation. Funimation is another streaming app available on various devices but only offers different anime shows.

You might be using your Funimation app on a Roku TV, Fire Stick, LG, PC, or a PS5 and notice that your show keeps buffering. It can be incredibly annoying when this happens because you want the streaming service you pay for to work correctly. Otherwise, what is the point in paying for the content?

If this is the case for you, you first need to figure out why Funimation keeps buffering. Then, you can try one of many solutions that can be done in minutes and get you back to watching Funimation without any buffering issues.

Why Does Funimation Keep Buffering

1. Poor Internet Connection

Fix – Reconnect Device to Router

You can try to disconnect from your router and then reconnect to it in hopes of stopping Funimation from buffering on the device you use. If the issues with you watching your device are caused by the internet network you are currently connected to, reconnecting the said device to your router could be the solution.

1. From the device that you are trying to watch Funimation on, go to your Internet Connection.

2. Now, click on the internet you are using and disconnect from it.

3. Next, log in back into your internet network.

4. Once you are logged into the new internet network, open Funimation back up on your device and see if you can now watch Funimation without it continuously buffering.

If you do not remember the login information for your internet connection, you can either

have a reset password sent to your email or contact your internet provider. They can get you

logged back in so you can continue enjoying Funimation on your device without it buffering.

Fix 2 – Restart Router

You might not be able to use your Funimation app on your device because your internet is down or there is a bad connection to your own Wi-Fi network, causing the app to buffer. A straightforward attempt to remedy this issue is by restarting your Wi-Fi router.

To do this, you can disconnect and reconnect to your Wi-Fi on your device, locate your router and unplug and plug back in your router, or power down and power back up your router.

You can also directly unplug your router from the outlet it is plugged into, or you can unplug the cable on your router that powers it.

If you only unplug your router for a few seconds, this might not be enough time for your router to restart fully, and you will not solve any of your issues. Also, the longer you keep your router unplugged, the longer your internet will have to take a breather and allow a proper restart.

Doing this will restart your router and your internet with it, hopefully allowing you to finally use the Funimation app that you have downloaded onto your device and enjoy watching your favorite animes.

Fix 3 – Reset Router

You might not be able to use your Funimation app on your device because your internet is down or there is a bad connection to your own Wi-Fi network, causing the app to buffer. A straightforward attempt to remedy this issue is by resetting your Wi-Fi router.

To do this, you can disconnect and reconnect to your Wi-Fi on your device, locate your router and unplug and plug back in your router, or power down and power back up your router.

You can also directly unplug your router from the outlet it is plugged into, or you can unplug the cable on your router that powers it. If you only unplug your router for a few seconds, this might not be enough time for your router to reset fully, and you will not solve any of your issues.

Also, the longer you keep your router unplugged, the longer your internet will have to take a breather and allow a valid reset. Doing this will reset your router and your internet, hopefully allowing you to finally use the

Funimation app that you have downloaded onto your device without dealing with any buffering issues that limit you from watching Funimation’s content.

2. Chrome Browser Issue

Fix – Use Window Edge

If you use Chrome to watch Funimation, you can try using Window Edge if you are running into a problem with the website buffering. To use Window Edge, go to microsoft.com/en-us/edge.

From this website, follow the prompts shared to download and use Window Edge. Window Edge is a secure browser that you can use for free.

Since Chrome is not working with Funimation, there is a potential you can use Window Edge to stop Funimation from buffering. Once it is downloaded, access Funimation like you did through Chrome.

3. Too Many Devices Connected to Router

Fix – Disconnect Other Devices or Use Phone’s Hotspot

If you have too many devices connected to your router, your internet may be too weak to let you properly watch Funimation. Thus, it keeps buffering because the connection is not strong enough.

By disconnecting devices that do not need to be hooked up to your internet, you can strengthen the link and get back to watching Funimation.

Other TVs, computers, phones, tablets, and so many other items are probably using your internet. If you do not have many devices using your Wi-Fi or disconnected most of them, but Funimation is still buffering, you can also try using your hotspot if you have one.

4. Funimation App Issue

Fix – Log Out, then Log into Funimation

A rapid and possible fx is to log out of Funimation and log right back in. Doing this can help the app refresh and regroup, potentially allowing you to beat your problems and watch anything on the app without having Funimation start buffering on you again.

Logging out then in will only take a couple of minutes. Follow these steps to log out of your Funimation account and log back in.

1. Access your Funimation app on your device and ensure that you are logged in.

2. Then, click on your Profle in the upper right corner.

3. Next, go to My Account and scroll to the bottom.

4. Click on Sign Out.

5. Your device will bring you to Funimation’s home screen. Click on Sign In.

6. Once you get signed back in, see if you can use the app without it starting to buffer.

After you get logged back in, you should hopefully have overcome any issues with Funimation buffering when you want to watch something on the app. If you do not remember your password, do not fear.

Once you log out, you can easily send a password reset link to the email associated with your account and gain access right back in. Doing this will hopefully solve your issues with being unable to use your Funimation app on your device.

Fix 2 – Clear Funimation Cache

You can also try clearing the Funimation app’s cache on your device to see if this solves your issues with it not working due to buffering on your choice of device. All this will do is clear your choice of device and Funimation app of any unneeded data or information stored in Funimation or anywhere else on your device.

Apps will automatically save data, even if it is useless to you and the app, so clearing the cache does not damage your Funimation app or your choice device. Clearing cache on your choice of device and on Funimation will significantly change depending on your device type.

To figure out how to clear the cache on your specific device, you just need to look up “How to Clear Cache on [Your device].” You will then have plenty of ways to clear the cache directly on your device or your Funimation app.

Once you can successfully clear the cache, you should hopefully be able to use the Funimation app that was buffering on your choice of device and get back to watching your favorite animes and everything else that the Funimation app offers.

Fix 3 – Update Funimation App on Device

Another reason you might be unable to use the Funimation app on your choice of a device because it keeps buffering is that the Funimation app is outdated and needs an update.

Like the other apps you use on your phone or other devices, Funimation will periodically release new updates that enhance the Funimation app users’ experience and eliminate some bugs and glitches happening to multiple accounts.

By updating your Funimation app, the creators may have fixed the issue causing your app to start buffering constantly. Updating your Funimation app will depend on what type of device you are using.

Suppose you are watching the Funimation app on a newer and smart device, which is happening to you. When you open up your Funimation app, your device will most likely meet you with a message telling you that you need to update Funimation before you can use it on your choice of device.

Your choice of device will then have a button you can press on this page that will bring you right to the update you require.

However, if your choice of the device does not automatically do this for you, simply go to the app store on your choice of device and check for any needed updates there.

So, if you are using the Funimation app, go to the app store on your choice of device and see if it needs an update. Updating the Funimation app should help you enjoy the contents of the Funimation app on your choice of device.

If you are using the website, however, on your choice of device, you will not need to update the Funimation app as websites do not need updates, nor do they rely on apps to play your animes.

Fix 4 – Contact Funimation

Contacting Funimation is another way you can try and solve your issues with the app buffering. There are a couple of different ways to contact them. The frst is by calling Funimation at 1-885-268-9672.

Once you reach this number, you must go through some prerecorded messages. After clicking the right buttons, you can talk to a live customer service representative.

They can help you try and solve your Funimation issues and get a better look at what is happening with your account.

You can also email them at [email protected] In your email, explain your problems with Funimation buffering on you. They will reply to your email and hopefully allow you to get back to watching Funimation.

Otherwise, you can submit a form to request help at https://shop.funimation.com/contact-us.html. You will have to put your contact information into this form, so they can reach out to you when they see your request for help.

5. You’re Using A VPN

Fix – Remove VPN

You may have been using a VPN without knowing it. All VPNs do is offer a way for you to hide where you are connecting to the internet from.

Turning off your VPN will change your internet settings, which could be another possible way to get back to using your Funimation account on your device without having to deal with any buffering. To remove a VPN, follow these steps.

1. Start by opening up Settings on your device that are having issues with the Funimation app.

2. Next, go to Network, Internet Connection, or anything similar. The heading will change depending on what type of device you use.

3. Now, find and click on VPN. Then either click Disconnect or tap on the toggle so that it turns to gray.

Doing this will also change depending on what type of device you use.

Whether you are using a Fire Stick, Roku TV, PC, LG, or PS5, turning your VPN off will hopefully be the solution that allows you to fully utilize your Funimation app on your device so that you can enjoy all of the content without having to wait for the app to buffer.

6. Device Issue

Fix – Shutdown/Unplug Device for 60 Seconds, Then Plug Back In

One way that is a pretty simple fx but tends to be overlooked is to simply unplug your device that the Funimation app is not working on due to buffering. The easiest way is to walk over to the outlet your device is plugged into that is having issues with Funimation.

Once you have located this outlet, you must unplug the cord connected to your device from the outlet you have found. Once this is done, give your device 60 seconds to be unplugged and not be on or working.

After this minute has passed, plug the cord back into the outlet and see if your device will now work with your Funimation app and stop buffering. If the outlet is challenging to get to, you can also just unplug the cord from your device directly.

To ensure you are unplugging the right cord, follow the cord from your outlet to your device. Once you have located the proper cord, unplug it from your device. Again, give it a minute to be unplugged and fully turned off.

In both instances, the longer you leave the device unplugged, whether from the device itself or the outlet, the better for your device. After a minute, plug the cord back into your device.

Turn your device on and see if this gets the Funimation to start working on your device and stop buffering when you want to use it. If you are using a PC, try powering down your PC for one minute.

To do this, just hold down on the power button on your PC. Once this is done, give your PC 60 seconds to be powered off and not be on or working. After this minute, turn your PC back to see if Funimation is still buffering.

Fix 2 – Update Device

Like your phone and other devices, your device requires frequent system updates. Your device may be working on an outdated system that is causing your issues with your Funimation app to buffer.

Thankfully, you can take some easy steps to update your device, and hopefully, you can finally watch Funimation without any buffering issues. To update your Roku TV, follow these steps.

1. To start, go to your Roku device and grab your remote.

2. Click on the Settings button on the said remote.

3. Then, go to Support and click on this option.

4. Now, scroll to the heading that says System Update and select it.

5. Click on Check Firmware Update.

6. Your Roku TV will now automatically install an update if it has one.

7. If your updates are not working, you can also try using a USB to update your Roku TV.

8. First, you will need a USB drive. Now, go to the Roku TV website and download the update onto your USB drive.

9. Next, plug your USB drive into the USB port on your Roku TV.

10. This update will automatically download onto your Roku TV. Once complete, see if you can watch Funimation without having to deal with buffering.

However, if there was no software update available, this is not what your Roku TV is having issues with Funimation buffering. To update your Fire Stick TV, follow these steps.

1. Go to Setting using your Fire Stick Remote.

2. Then, select My Fire TV.

3. Now, click on About.

4. Scroll down to “Check for Updates” or “Install Update.” The heading will change depending on what model of Fire Stick you have.

5. Click on “Confirm” or “Install.”

6. It can take a few minutes to download fully. Once complete, see if you can watch Funimation without having to deal with buffering.

However, if there was no software update available, this is not what your Fire Stick is having issues with Funimation buffering. To update your LG TV, follow these steps.

1. With your remote, go to Settings on your LG TV.

2. Next, click on All Settings.

3. Then go to General.

4. Now, select Check For Updates. Your LG TV will tell you if there is an update available.

5. If there is one, click on Download.

6. Once the download is complete, turn off your TV for ten seconds. Once finished, see if you can watch Funimation without having to deal with buffering.

However, if there was no software update available, this is not what your LG TV is having issues with Funimation buffering. To update your PS5, follow these steps.

1. First, log in to your PlayStation Network account on your PS5.

2. Next, go to the Main Menu.

3. Then, press down on the D-pad and then right.

4. Now, scroll until you see Settings. Click on X when the heading highlights to go to Settings.

5. Once in Settings, go to System.

6. Scroll down to System Software.

7. Then, click on System Software Update.

8. Finally, click on Update System Software if there is one available. Once finished, see if you can watch Funimation without having to deal with buffering.

However, if there was no software update available, this is not what your PS5 is having issues with Funimation buffering. If you are using a PC to watch Funimation, you must search “How to Update [your exact model of PC].”

Doing this will tell you exactly how to update your PC. If no update is listed in this area, your device is up to date. Then, there is another reason why Funimation is not loading. Companies release these updates frequently to enhance the experience and offer fun, new features to be explored.

Updating your device may get annoying, but know these updates are released for your enjoyment and to make your device run smoother.
