Facebook Messenger Notifications not Working Android

For whatever reason (there’s no judging here), you want to remove the people from Facebook’s Search function. When you search a person, page, group, anything with a dedicated space for Facebook, Facebook saves them in a section within the Search bar, aptly named “Recent Searches.”

By clicking the Search bar on a personal computer or tapping the Search bar on a smartphone or tablet, a drop-down menu appears. Here, you’ll see each person, page, group and entity you’ve searched recently.

Perhaps you don’t like a cluttered Search bar. It can get rather annoying having Recent Searches pop in and out whenever you’re looking someone up. If you’re looking to clear your search history, you can review the solutions below.

Deleting Search History Phone

Here’s how to delete recent searches on Messenger on a mobile platform:

1. Open the Facebook app. If you aren’t already logged in, then go ahead and do so.

2. Open Facebook Settings. If you own an iOS device, you should find it at the bottom-right corner, indicated by three horizontal lines. If you own an Android device, you should find it at the top-right corner, indicated by three horizontal lines.

3. Scroll down the menu until you find Settings. For Android users, it’ll be under Settings & Privacy.

4. Select Account Settings. (For Android users, Step 3 already takes you to Account Settings).

5. Select Security and Login. This displays ever single device your account is currently logged in.

6. Locate the device that is logged into Messenger. You can find the Messenger tag just underneath the device. For Android users, selecting the device will take you to another screen where you can make changes. For iOS devices, select the three vertical dots to the right of the device logged into Messenger.

7. Select Log Out in the drop down. For Android users, select Log Out.

8. Once you’re logged out, you can go ahead and log back into Messenger.

Now, when you select “Recent Researches,” you don’t see a single search at all. There is a chance it won’t work. If that’s the case, just uninstall and reinstall the Facebook Messenger app.

Deleting Specific Names on Phone

  1. Open the Facebook app.

3. Just below the Search bar, you’ll see Recent Searches. To the right of that, select Edit.

5. Alternatively, you can select Clear Searches to delete them as well.

People like a certain level of anonymity when they use Facebook and if you live in a home with several individuals with their own Facebook, sometimes you forget to log out. If someone wanted to be nosey, they select your Search bar and find out who you’ve been looking for. The best medicine for this is logging out when your Facebook session is over.
