How to Crop an Image with Microsoft Paint

Microsoft Paint is a basic painting and graphics program that is included on all devices that have Windows. It can be used to color, edit, and draw pictures. You can even import pictures to edit. You will be able to save your creations in a .jpg or .bmp file. Recently, updates enable you to use three colors at the same time.

Features included in the program include a pencil, brush, and airbrush tool. Even if you aren’t interested in using Microsoft Paint for all of your art needs, you can always use it for practice. Below you will find all the help that you may need using the cropping abilities of Microsoft Paint.

Cropping Using the Selection Tool

1. Open the image in Microsoft Paint by clicking Menu in the upper left corner of the screen. You will then have to click Open on the menu to the left of the screen and select the image from your device.

2. Once you see the image that you chose on the screen, you will have to click the Select tool located in the upper left of the menu at the top of the screen. The icon is a dotted outline of a rectangle.

3. After you click on the Select tool, you will need to select the portion of the image that you would like to crop by clicking in the area and drawing an outline around where you want to crop. An outline with numbers will appear around the area. When you are done, right click so that a menu will appear to the right of your image.

4. After you see the menu, look for “Crop” which is midway down the menu of options that appear. You will now see the cropped image appear as you wanted it to. Make sure you save the finished result.

Cropping Using the Crop Tool

1. Open the image in Microsoft Paint by clicking Menu in the upper left corner of the screen. You will then have to click Open on the menu to the left of the screen and select the image from your device.

2. Click Crop which is located in the upper left of the screen.

3. A box will appear around the image. Increase or decrease the size of the box by moving your mouse after clicking on it.

4. When you are done, click Done in the lower right corner of the menu to the right of your image.
