How to Host Someone on Twitch

Twitch is up there in popularity alongside the likes of YouTube. With its live streaming video services, users can tune in to watch their favorite personalities perform various tasks, especially gaming. With its use of “subscribing” like you would on YouTube, you can keep track of personalities with reminders of their next stream.

Considering Twitch is a subsidiary of Amazon, it’s only natural that Twitch would have a membership known as Twitch Prime. Gain access to exclusive promotions on eligible pre-orders and in-game loot with a Twitch Prime membership, along with various privileges like in-chat emoticons and badges. If you own an Amazon Prime account, you can simply subscribe to Twitch Prime without any extra cost on your Amazon Prime subscription.

This can be helpful if you were just looking to try Twitch Prime’s 30 day free trial and didn’t find it was your cup of tea. Also, if you live in an area that no longer offers Twitch Prime (maybe you move), but you still want the benefits Twitch Prime offered, you can opt for Twitch’s own subscription plan: Twitch Turbo.

Unsubscribing from Amazon Prime Cancels Twitch Prime

1. Go to Amazon’s website.

2. Sign in. You’ll find the Sign In option under Account & Lists. It’s highly recommended you do this over a secure network. You wouldn’t want someone snagging your login information over a sketchy Wi-Fi hotspot.

3. Go to Account & Lists and select Your Prime Membership. This produces a drop-down menu with a list of options. Find the box labeled Membership Management.

4. Select End Trial and Benefits. This will cancel your Twitch Prime account.

5. When prompted to, select End My Benefits. Amazon will ask you to confirm once again.

6. Select Continue to Cancel.

However, if you’re looking to keep Amazon Prime, but cancel Twitch Prime, clicking on Keep My Membership will be equally valid, especially if you’re just looking to cancel Twitch Prime’s free trial, but would like to keep Amazon Prime.

7. Amazon will ask you to confirm one last time. Selecting Cancel Membership will finalize the cancelation of your Amazon Prime account, including your Twitch Prime account.

How to Unlink Twitch from your Amazon Prime Account

As a subscriber of Amazon Prime, you can opt for a Twitch Prime account with no extra cost to you–it’s a perk of Amazon Prime. Both entities can operate without each other being linked at the hip. It should be noted: if you had a Twitch Prime account and unlink from Amazon, your subscription cost will not decrease. It will stay the same.

If you don’t want the two entities linked, here’s how you unlink your Twitch account from Amazon Prime:

1. Go to Amazon’s website.

2. Sign in. You’ll find the Sign In option under Account & Lists. It’s highly recommended you do this over a secure network. You wouldn’t want someone snagging your login information over a sketchy Wi-Fi hotspot.

3. Go to Account & Lists. This produces a drop-down menu with a list of options. Here, you’ll find several boxes each with its own set of options.

4. Select Other accounts.

5. Select Twitch account settings. Amazon will send you to your Twitch account settings and give you the opportunity to unlink your account.

6. Click Unlink Account. You’ll be prompted to confirm the unlinking.

7. When prompted, select Unlink this Twitch account. Now, your Amazon Prime account and Twitch account are free of each other.

If your Twitch account benefitted from Amazon Prime in any way, you will now lose those privileges after unlinking. This includes any Twitch Prime channel subscriptions, however, your subscriptions will automatically cancel after that subscription reaches its expiration date.

Twitch isn’t for everyone. Thankfully, Twitch provides a free trial that allows you to test the waters of what it’s all about, and cancel at any time during the free trial without being charged.

  1. When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Thanks!
