Poker ranks among the top played casino games together with slots and blackjack. Usually, a Texas Hold’em game of poker can be played with two to seven players. Each player starts out with two cards and attempts to have the best hand on the table.
There are four to five betting rounds with the dealer showing five cards. Everyone either shows their cards or folds to someone who has out bet the other players. At first, it was kind of hard to grasp but you get the hang of it if you keep playing.
It’s a riot when my best friends and I get together for Poker Night. We have chips, drinks, and our stash of play chips. None of the guys ever miss our poker games. We call it a night after a few hours because all good things must come to an end, but does it really have to?
With a majority of the population in the world practically owning a handheld device, it’s for certain that that poker organization will be coming out with their own version of this popular card game.
True enough, millions of players all over the world are playing poker daily through desktops and mobile phones. In this guide, I’ll be reviewing some of the most popular Poker Apps for Android and iOS and give you an idea if you’re starting out as a poker enthusiast.
Here are the best Poker games to play against people online:
1. Zynga Poker
Zynga Poker is one of the most downloaded games for Android and iOS. This title was launched back in 2007 as a response to the growing popularity of Facebook Apps. It has hundreds of millions of daily players and has fun and casual graphics.
The gameplay is like all other Hold’em games so it’s familiar. There are options for joining any table or multiplayer with your friends. Over the years, Zynga has grown considerably to the point of hosting their own Poker Con.
2. Appeak Poker
One of the most popular Hold’em poker apps is Appeak Poker. It’s simple and fast. The gameplay is pretty smooth and the blue tones in the design is easy on the eyes for hours of poker fun.
Appeak has millions of downloads and is available for Android and iOS. When I tried the app, it was light and responsive. You got 1000 chips daily and it was all for good fun. The app only allows play money but that’s fine because Appeak was developed as an app where beginners can learn and get some experience.
Players can go from a slow-paced game to fast and exciting when they use Appeak. Appeak Poker is available as a free app via Google Play Store and iTunes App Store.
SnapShove is an app developed by one of the top poker players in the World Series of Poker Europe. The app makes use of algorithms and trains the user to be a good poker player. Both free and pro modes are available for Android and iOS. The pro mode goes for $9.99 as a one time fee.
The app actually serves as a calculator which will help you make good and technically grounded decisions with your hand. I installed and opened this app like any other and I was surprised about its capabilities.
The app can do calculations and tell you the best move for the situation. This serves more of a tool rather than for casual gaming. I always thought that poker was more of a feeling and observing game since you also had to pick up the patterns and behaviors of your opponents.
SnapShove is a new way to go about learning poker or training to get ready to face the poker world champions.
4. Texas Hold’em and Omaha Poker: Pokerist
This app is a good Hold’em Poker game because there are many features like online play, challenges, quests, and tournaments. The app gives you chips on a daily basis so if you bust out today, you’ll get to play again tomorrow. The design is easy on the eyes and lets you dictate the pace of your games.
I tried the game and would give it an average rating overall. You can use your own image to represent yourself on the in-game avatar. I think this is a nice feature because you get to know who you may be up against.
Texas Hold’em and Omaha Poker has a few ads in between loading screens and offers in-app purchases. The app also has other games such as Black Jack, Roulette, Omaha, and Baccarat.
5. Poker Games: World Poker Club
Another online game where poker players come to have fun, join tournaments, and engage in sit-and-go matches is Poker Games: World Poker Club. The game offers free chips on a daily basis, attractive designs and a leaderboard so you can show off all that poker playing skills.
The game is free to play and supports in-app purchases.
In this app, I like that you can join casual tables for some good and clean fun. You can also invite your friends so you can sit on a table with them for a nice private tournament. The live chat feature is pretty useful for groups of friends that are playing or for meeting new people and making friends around the table.
6. World Series of Poker
If you want to go for the real thing and you’re in Nevada or New Jersey, World Series of Poker (WSOP) will let you play for real money. You can exchange bills for chips and take on other players.
The app is pretty intuitive and has that pro tournament design. The gameplay is poker so it’s something that all types of players can expect. I kind of liked that it has the pro tournament feel. It’s like being in a real poker tournament but without the thousands in attendance to watch.
7. Governor of Poker 2
If you’re looking for a fun poker game and want to do it offline, you can try Governor of Poker 2. It’s an offline game so you won’t be playing with money nor real people. In this town, you’ll play to be the best with your poker playing skills. The app’s design motif is the Wild West so the game can be quickly familiarized by beginners.
I thought that the games here would be pretty useful for beginners that are learning the card combinations of poker. Another good thing about this app is you can play offline so there’s no pressure on you to call, raise, fold, or go all-in.
One of the things that’s unique about this one is that you can go into town and play games but you have to make sure you have the right amount of chips or else you might find it difficult get to transport and go to another town.
This app is free for Android via the Google Play Store and goes for $1.99 via the iTunes App Store.
Handheld poker can be just as exciting and fun like the real thing. You can play against an Artificial Intelligence (AI) via offline more or other people through an online platform. When you’re up against other players, it can get really interesting. All of the app developers prioritize fair play so each hand will have an appropriate success rate.
My favorite is Zynga Poker because it’s fun and casual. I’ve been playing it since Facebook apps became a hit. Sometimes, I get my friends to play when we’re all bored and in different locations. Very convenient and effective in connecting people through poker.
If you read up to this point, you have to go and try some of the titles I reviewed so you’ll get a good feel of what I’ve just talked about.
